I was drinking at the time. tongue.gif What you really meant to say was "Objection, compound question." In which case, the judge would rule for you. wink.gif In which case, I'll now ask a proper question. smile.gif

Well, I have a tentative ID on my mystery item: broken branch of digitata. I think I grabbed the mystery item (I was fishing blind) but I have something in hand and no longer see anything in that spot. Anyways, it's a largely bleached 1.5" section of digi. The surviving small section is brown, but it's amazing that even that's alive, given that it was completely shaded. It does, however, explain why I thought I was seeing monti polyps!

The downside to all of this is that the mini is still AWOL. Looks like I'll be using Richie's method of waiting to see babies popping up. wink.gif

Oh, and over the next couple of days, colonies from the 20L will be working their way down to the 29. The first to transition will be my acan lords, a monti cap or two, and possibly the duncans.

Once I take care of a couple of other things, I'll try to snap a few new pictures, just to get some eye candy on this page. The GSP is starting to open more fully. It looks like there is some green and some purple polyps, so it will look even more cool as it spreads!

I was so excited! I wasn't even looking for him at the time. Instead, I was thinking "ya know, I should get a shot of this macro starting to really color up!" Then, my jaw hit the ground!

I fed the tank and the nem right before doing a 4 or 5g WC. The nem's feeding response was very good, considering that he hasn't been fed since... well, since DH last fed him. He instantly grabbed the mysis, and within a few seconds was folding on itself to swallow the food. Looks like I'll be starting to feed every day or two, to encourage growth!

lol I know the feeling MJ. I've lost 2 shrooms and a few zoa polyps. They all ended up in a wierd spot. The shrooms however have decided to mount themselves and stay lol. It's always nice to find something that you thought was gone forever isnt it.

It was very much a relief! The best part is that he is in a great spot, one that I couldn't have possibly successfully placed him. Now I just have to hope that he stays put!

Indeed! He also blends in almost perfectly with the rock work right now. As they purple up, he'll be easier to spot, but for now, it's like playing Where's Waldo? laugh.gif When these nems reproduce, will they act like mushies, producing clones, or will each baby potentially have different colors?

They'll all have the same green/purple colors. Patterns might be different though - of that I'm not sure.

Well, the transition of the 20L into a prop tank has begun step 1: evacuation. Thankfully, the commanders of the 29th Division were more than willing to accept the new platoons into the Division.

The MP10 might be sechzing up the 29 soon. I've got a few more coral colonies and frags to transfer, and then it happens!
DHaut
MJ, how's your mp10 on noise? I've been hearing that they're noisy when above 50% power. True? What power level would I run one on in a 9g tank?
Militant Jurist
Ok, who wants to help? I have a purple cap, a multi-headed duncan, and a 2.5" or so diameter chalice to place. Suggestions on where they should go?

Purple cap - DHauts tank
Chalice - Weeties tank
Duncans - Spanko's tank.

Mine sits fairly high in the tank, so I think that contributes to some of the noise. You'll hear a bit of noise as it ramps up in reef crest mode, just because of how sharp the rises and falls are. In other modes, it's not as bad.

I run it at about 50% in the 20L (along with the return), and it was at about 75% without the return. For a 9g tank, I'd run it down around 25%, especially if you have other current. I'd start low, and slowly build up to a higher level. When the MP10 is set too high, the corals will let you know!

Well, Weetie does have a frag of the chalice now. The duncans and cap aren't fragable just yet, or else I'd share. wink.gif

Good word. Since the tank is in the living room, any constant noise is going to get veto'd by the wife. I wish I could test one out first before buying.
spanko
No fish stores in the Shire that have any setup?
DHaut
Not with MP10's. And I'd want to try it on the tank a week or so before fully committing to $200.

Well, if you go with Lagoon mode (probably more reasonable for a 9g) and at low power, I've been told that it's no louder than Koralias.
DHaut
For now the kor nano is doing the trick. I would like more random flow though to keep flatworm populations down as well as promote good coral growth.

Yeah, you may just need to stick with the K-nano. Maybe a second one will do the trick for you?
DHaut
I think the one is fine for growth - the space is really too small for a second powerhead.

I'll have to see if I can find the link for it. Or maybe I was hallucinating.

I think this might do the trick. You'd want to double check though, because I've never used it.

Hey MJ.. I was wondering how your starry blenny is doing. I hadn't seen him in some of your previous picks and didn't see if it was mentioned if he died.

I ask because after I saw the one you got he looks so wierd I started looking into them, then managed to get my hands on one for my tank.

I have to say wow... they are awsome. My guy (who won't be given a name until he survives a month) has really gone at the GHA on the glass of the tank. He has himself an ever present buddah belly and goes for the flake food at times too.

So I wanted to say thanks for introducing me moreso to these type of fish.. they are way cool. Lots of personality.

Oh.. and I voted on your pole. Love your tank.

Nope, he's still alive and well! He's very difficult to photograph, because usually when I walk up to the tank, he swims up to the front glass and starts dancing for attention!

Mine's a constant grazer too! He's also biting at the rocks or the glass. He seems to enjoy it much more than nori, but he'll nibble at the nori too. He also gulps up the mysis as well! He seems to have developed a taste for my hand as well. wink.gif

The last of the transplant corals will be moved tomorrow. After that, I'll start converting the 20L into a frag tank by siphoning the sand out and re-arranging the rocks. Once that has happened, the MP10 and Koralias will be swapped. The 29 should have some very wet water after that. wink.gif

Now, for the pictures:

That's what I'm trying to promote. biggrin.gif Although, I've heard it's possible to over-feed a mini nem? Or is it just a concern when you give them too big of a single piece? I've heard horror stories about folks feeding silversides to a mini and having the mini gorge itself to death.
spanko
Maybe the pieces of silversides are too big.

Always read that feeding an anemone, the pc. of food should not be bigger than the mouth. IDK

Yeah, I think that was the problem. I just wasn't sure if the heart of the problem was the width of the silverside, or if it's possible for the nem to eat itself to death. In either event, I'm attempting to take it easy; although, the mini did eat 4 decent pieces of mysis. What a pig!

In other news - I might be getting a new fish or two today, depending on what's available. The Phishy's is having an in-store 30% off sale this weekend, starting today, and last I heard, they had chalk bass in stock! Even if they don't, I'm tempted to get something like a goby.
