RSR seems to have worked for me. Kristen certainly feels the M7 worked for her. Maria used something else ( name escapes me at the moment ) that worked well for her.
Whatever you do choose, keep us informed. tongue.gif

Looks like I'll have to wait until Wednesday if I do decide to go with the M7, because Phishy's storefront is closed Monday and Tuesday. I was going to go today, but I decided to pick up some rock from another LFS. These guys have a greenhouse frag system, with supplemental lighting run only during the winter. The corals often have dull colors, but spectacular growth. The rock I wanted required a bit more lbs than I expected, so my reef budget for the day was blown. Plus, I had to get home to take care of some things anyways afterward. I got a couple of cool hitchhikers (I think) on the rock, so I wanted to make sure they'd make it.

If the SpectraPure RODI isn't shipped on Tuesday, I'll definitely be getting SOMETHING to help prevent a cyano recurrence. dry.gif

As for the Ric, $20 for a nice one is about average around here I'd say.

OK, thought I'd check. It seemed a bit strange to pay as much (or more) for a single polyp of a softie as I would pay for a frag of favia, acan ech. etc. I've already got the orange multi-colored ric and a dark green ric, so I might just wait until they have a single polyp of a more interesting color. I've decided to hold all frag purchased until after the swap. I can't wait! happy.gif

Very disappointing service there. I know some peeps would say you are being impatient, but this isn't reefing, it's business and items should be shipped in a timely fashion- unless noted up front. dry.gif

Normally, with online purchases, I'm fairly patient. However, for something as expensive as an RODI system, and given it's importance to a reef system, I'd expect that a vendor that caters to reefers would have a prompt service. Also, if it were somebody running things as a side business (like StevieT, etc) I'd be much more patient. However, between the delay and the oh so helpful response from them, I'm not happy. It would also be one thing if the delay was with the carrier. Shipping this time of year is probably still a bit hectic. But not even shipping, with no explanation or ETA..... nope, not cool at all. sleep.gif Especially to a guy who knows that under contract law, all contracts are to be fulfilled within a reasonable time, unless otherwise stated. wink.gif

Yeah, I've been very spoiled! I might have some extra funds coming in soon, so I might pick up something from the LFS after that. Until then, I'm happy with providing fellow reefers with some cash for their frags. biggrin.gif

inorite? Usually it's one or the other, but when I got the 4" green slimer, it was a toss up, because the hitchhiker was a 2" brittle star. Such a cool little fella! He's taken up residence within a small rock between the frog and the green digi. I've become rather fond of him, such that I make sure to put a piece of mysis within his reach anytime I feed. biggrin.gif

HH are awesome... most of the time lol. I have identified 19 different HH in my tanks. The coolest so far are the stomas and brittle stars.

Good luck with the RO unit. I've bought stuff online and they took my money instantly and it didnt ship for over a week. I finally contacted them and told them they need to ship it ASAP or refund my money. They shipped it the next day. I can understand if they say that shipments go out Mondays and Tuesdays and I order it on Wednesday but sometimes they get rediculous.

The sad thing is that these guys are NR sponsors. I really expected more from them. They've also kinda got me by the balls, because it was a great deal on the unit. I'll give them a bit more time on account of the deal, but my patience is limited. sleep.gif

Some of these people do not stock the items. When an order comes in they get it directly from the manufacturer. Sometimes that slows it way down because either the manufacturer had a big order that higher priority or the manufacturer needs a minimum order and they are waiting on more orderes. You want me to go rough them up for you? I have a rabbit with nasty big pointy teeth. It's no ordinary rabbit. It's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on.

Well, I don't think that's the case with these guys, because I ordered a Spectrapure RODI from Spectrapure, so I can't imagine many middlemen being involved. If there is, they need a better business model. wink.gif

Yup, we're all ed.

Oh, and I found out what might be the hold up with the RODI. Apparently, spectrapure individually creates each RODI unit. Would have been nice to hear that from them, rather than a semi-rude one-liner. Glad I posted something in the vendor feedback forum, or I'd be rather pissed.

Militant Jurist
Only a law school is this convoluted. I found out that Friday is the effective date of my JD, which I've known for a bit. However, what they failed to mention was that final grades still don't come out until next week, and that the transcript won't reflect completion until then. Once that happens, then the law school will tell people that I had my JD the Friday before (this Friday). huh.gif Then, I have to request to get my J.D. printed early, rather than have it be available at the May graduation. dry.gif
Militant Jurist
I picked up two new test kits today. I got a new ELOS pH kit for about $9, and a new Salifert PO4 kit for $17.

29g Results:
PO4 - 0.00 to 0.03 ppm (closer to 0.00 ppm)
pH - 8.0

20L Results:
PO4 - 0.03 to 0.1 ppm (closer to 0.03 ppm, but still high)
pH - 8.0

Looks like the PO4 isn't as high as I thought, or the Phosban has been doing its job. The green slimer in the 20L still has a bit of a funky look, but after talking to the "guru" wink.gif at Phishy's, slimers tend to do that in the presence of nutrient problems, so hopefully it will be making a color comeback soon.
Militant Jurist
Oh, and I found out why florida rics are so expensive! Apparently, Florida has a 20 polyp per diver per day limit, and they have a draconian limit on rock that is attached to the polyps. Factor in shipping from the divers to the store, and voila, $20 per polyp.
Militant Jurist
New Developments:

The starry finally ate nori out of my hand, as I had been told (a while ago) that he would. I was worried about his eating, but he's always cruising around and nipping at the rock work. This caused me to look closer at the rock, and it's really coming alive! It's certainly losing the white appearance, at least up-close. Now I don't have to worry so much about him.

The green digi has begun healing the areas that had broken off. Instead of flat breaks, each of those spots is now a rounded nub. Can't wait to see more growth!

The encrusting monti has begun regaining even more color.

In potentially negative news, I saw several reddish colored FW's on the glass today. scarry01.gif I'm thinking of getting a sixline when I order the chalk bass (or maybe I'll find one locally). I should think that a 29g would be sufficient for a sixline, to keep the aggression down. True?
Needreefunds
Had a sixline in my NC12 for a long time. Transfered it to the Max when I broke it down.
I have had maybe a half dozen over the years and each has taken care of the flatties for me.
Not to mention just about every pod in the tank as well.

Great to hear about the Starry and the digi too. Love that one. cool.gif

I've heard lots of good things about then as FW assassins. I'm a bit worried about the pod death, but I'm hoping to get a separate fuge hooked up one of these days, so I suppose that would take care of the pod problem.

I like the way this tank is shaping up.
Now it just needs some time for the frags to encrust and grow in and get more of that natural reef look.

Me too! biggrin.gif I've put a lot of thought and effort into this tank, especially since it's in my living room. With each of the frags, I've tried to shape the putty in such a way as to help it look more natural once it's encrusted (to varying degrees of success sleep.gif ). The large slimer and the tri-color to it's left have made the most progress in the encrusting category, so they'll probably be the first big growth corals. I'm doing my best to keep the Ca and Alk up, so that they can grow as best they can. I don't feed them anything, but I've heard that fish poo is really all they need. wink.gif

laugh.gif

The stick forest are frags that fell from the green digi in removal from the previous owner's tank, transport, and then my placement in the tank. One frag is going in WL's Swap, and one might be going to my 20L, and one or two might go up for sale. Or, I might just place them on the rockwork rather than sell them. I'm keeping them on the sand for now, until I find out what I'm getting in the Swap. Then everything will go into a new home.

Well, what most folks don't know is that there are a number of ways of catching the attorney who lies. In signed documents to the court, a number of violations (including false information) can result in the attorney being forced to pay the attorney fees of the other side. There's also (at least in my state) a number of ethical rules providing punishment even for misrepresentations, the violation of which can result in sanctions including permanent disbarment.

Also, there is a difference between taking the word of and trusting a lawyer. In the trust category, the proper response is to trust but verify. wink.gif

the rules are the rules, of course. however, despite the rules, my experience is that lawyers lie all the time, but i (and other lawyers i know) are generally (depending on the degree of falsity/severity of the consequences of the lie) not going to report this to the bar because it's flat out not worth the potential hassle, both in terms of reputation in the legal community (you don't want to be the guy who tells on other lawyers) and in terms of potential for retaliatory gotcha-ism (the liar attorney and his/her firm will be VIGILENT for any opportunity to report you for the slightest misstep).

the example that always stands out in my mind is when i had another lawyer lie right to a judge's face about the content of a conversation that took place between he and i prior to a trial, but because 1) the lie (likely) didn't affect the outcome of the case; and 2) there was no good way of proving that he lied other than my word against his, i didn't feel like i could reasonably pursue it with the bar.

a lot of attorneys i know are the most ethical/honest/trustworthy people you'll meet in any field; a lot of them aren't.
