Good surprise, eh? I think I'm going to get a Mag 5 for the return pump. I might go used, or I'll just wait for one of the Christmas sales at the LFS, where they usually include dry goods at 10 or 15% off. As for the rest of the 15g tank, I'm debating between a skimmer (which isn't all the necessary, since I have no fish in that tank), a fuge or a frag tank. The frag tank would require additional lighting, and my money currently is going into the 29g stocking. A fuge is probably the best bet, since I can rig up lighting with some T8 fixtures (I think I can get the properly lighting using those, anyways). It will also help keep the water quality up, and it should help with ph swings, by using a reverse light cycle. It won't be a display fuge though, so it will probably just be a big honkin ball o' cheato.

Happy it made it there as I sent it. I will miss it, but it does no good just sitting in a box.

I'd go with the fuge for now. Mag 5 should do nicely. That's what I ran on my 20L

I'm glad you let me know you were looking to get rid of it. Talk about timing. I've seen other overflows, and this one is incredibly well-built by comparison to everything else I've seen.



Sounds good to me on both counts! It will also give me a steady supply of pods to shake into the 29g occasionally. I've heard that chalk bass are pretty good hunters, and they'll need to do that on my semi-frequent extended trips out of town (4 days or so). It will be nice to be able to load the tank up with pods ahead of time, to make for easy hunting.

I decided to play with the white balance setting on my camera. It did the trip for the FTS, but some of the individual shots turned out a bit dark.

Me too! I'm so glad I moved it to this tank. It's loosing its glassy look and its coloring up nicely. It's nice to see that SPS are doing well in this tank, even with the tank being young.

NICE! Love the hydno. mine is tiny right now, but it's looking nice and healthy! maybe one day our will equal the greatness of the ap123 famous hydno.

That's really all we can do! Growth is up to the coral at that point. I'm curious to see how much encrusting the coral will do before it starts to grow vertically. I hope that the angle of mine will produce some cool growth patterns.

Haha thanks! I actually was at the guys house checking out his coral. He's got a 500g system! He also had a starry blenny, and I definitely want one now!

Unfortunately, a law student's budget doesn't allow for a reefba. It only allows for a box of razor blades and some elbow grease.

So, through taking photos, I discovered that one of my new acros ALSO has red bugs. At least the nuclear weapon is on its way! I should think the powder would be enough to dip two frags?

So, here's what I got (while the photos upload):

1x Green Slimer
1x Tri-Color Acro (red bugs)
1x Pavona
1x Milli (I believe)
1x "Elephant Coral"

The elephant is an SPS, and I haven't had any luck finding it online. The guy said he could only remember that the scientific name began with a "pac" something.

The red bugs should only affect the tri-color, and non of the rest, correct? They also won't harm the monti cap or hydno either?

Soooooooo in other news....

I went out a while ago to go see some friends for a little bit before calling it a night, and guess what: the girl in a car behind decides to give me a "love tap" with her license plate. It wasn't too much damage, just enough. Thankfully, she had insurance. I've already talked to her company, and they are just waiting to talk to her before having me go get an estimate. I kinda felt bad for the girl... she's from out of state, visiting Columbus as a medical student apparently doing some kind of residency at Ohio State, and she was completely lost. With the work I've done prosecuting, I was just glad she had insurance! If my cases are any indicator, half of the drivers in Columbus are driving without insurance and/or a license.

Well, off to bed. I've got an early morning coming up!

Thanks! On the car front, I'm still waiting to hear back from the insurance company. I guess the claims rep isn't in until 11CST today (so still not yet).

Today's exam went fairly well, I think. I knew the material tested (phew!) so that's always a plus.

I've got my last in class exam Monday, and that's the one I'm concerned about. It's Professional Responsibilities, and the professor really didn't teach us a whole lot. It's open book, but it's a LOT of material.
