Ok, my new 150's dimensions are 72"x24"x20"high. I was thinking of buying the 3x150watt sunpod unit (I know they have been discontinued but you can still find them) and changing out the stock bulbs for phoenix 14ks. This tank is going to have mostly anemones and lps. Or should I go with 250s?

I personally own the 72'' 834w (3x150) outer orbit with PC's (not T-5s) and am extremely happy with it.

If you are looking for fastest growth rates possible then 250 watts is ideal. But the 3x150w outer orbit works fantastic. I have SPS, LPS, Softies, polyps, almost every type of coral, and they all grow great under the lights.

I ran Ushio 10k's with great growth rates but color was more to be desired. The 384w of 420nm Actinics are great for bringing the color out and popping, Also work great for a dawn/dusk effect.

Now though to save energy I run the pc's as dawn/dusk in 2 1hour intervals, one for dawn one for dusk. I run 12 hours with 3x 150w Radium 20k's and am extremely happy with the color they produce. Growth rates of the SPS have actually increased with the use of the 20k radiums compared to the 10k ushios with pc's running.

I cannot comment on the t-5 version but the PC version of the 72'' with just the PC's lit would not grow anything but the simplest of mushrooms at the bottom of my 18'' high tank.

An example I can give you is my bottom dwelling mushrooms and zoas grow great with just the 150w lamps. Some of my mushrooms I had to hide in the shade because of too much light.

For pictures of how the light looks go see my tank thread.
