Thanks peeps!
This is an all glass 125 with corner overflows. It was formerly a freshwater pacu tank and is in MINT condition, perfect silicone and no scratches, just some pacu crap. Stand, tank, and canopy for $150!!!
The only thing that was worth keeping on this tank was a 1200gph MAK 4 external pump. No lights, no skimmer.
I am probably going to light it with 3x 250w metal halides, but I am not sure yet, that is big $$$ in equipment, and power bills.
Yes, the 60 hex is on permanent postponment for now, and will probably be sold. You can see it on the floow in front of the tank, it lost its spot lol.

oh, exciting!!!! thats a bada$$ tank SDT...its gonna look great!
as for the lighting, i think that 3 x 250's would be awesome looking on there. i wouldnt worry that much about the power bill increase. (then again, my bill is like $500/ month right now,

this tank is gonna be killer...

125's make great reefs, I maintain several, I cant wait to grow it out!
I think for now this is going to be a VHO lit tank, but eventually it will have 3 250w halides, my power bill is already $375 a month with just the 37.

SDT, that is a sweet deal. If I had the room, I wouldn't pass that deal up either.

That would look pretty sweet. Very Japanese zen-ish.

Yeah, I couldnt pass on it, and I should be able to get all the equipment at whole sale price.
I am thinking a G3 skimmer, and probably 6 VHO's....I might gut the oddysea fixture and put the one 250w halide right in the middle of the tank, and have a mound of SPS corals and then zoanthids and LPS on each side.

I think a better idea is to put 30 koi in it with a fake plant and some purple gravel and call it a day.

Welcome to the Club!
Biggest issues you will have:
1. Heating
2. Flow
3. Lighting
In that order. Or at least for me WAS a problem. I <3 my aquarium controller so much now.
I'm cool with the ditching of the HEX. They are a pain, I know... I had one. Nice score. Exactly how I got my 125. Seems like this is the common way we get the 125's

Sad to see you give up on the hex... Rocket's right though, they are a pain

But I GUESS that sweet new tank makes up for it. Can't wait to see what you decide to do with it!

awesome!!! i have the same tank in my garage, but with overflows on the back wall. it took a back seat since i cant afford anything for it! it is a beast! and will cost a penny to run!! so, i decided to redo my 40b and give it life again!
any ideas for sump/fuge plans? internal flow?
good luck sdt! ill be taggin along!!

The layout will probably be two mounds with a large opening in the middle.
For flow I am using a 1200gph external pump with a SCWD, and probably a few maxjets, or a couple mag 7's with some loc line coming over the back. I hate laminar flow, I am going to try to avoid it at all costs.

If you are going to set up a sweet tank like that, you need to do a little better than an SCWD. Splurge and get an Oceans Motions 4 way. Well worth it, and more flow options with no flow loss. Also, get something better than Mag7s

Hey now, no copying me. I've got 2 mounds with a large opening in the middle...
Flow is going to need to be much much higher than that. I have over 4000 gph and am only just satisfied. ( Vortech MP40w 100%) I think another one set to anti-sink would be ideal. But I need more coral first!!!
Return should be 800GPH or more alone. Mag drives are great but Ocean runner pumps are more energy efficient at the higher GPH's. I would look into those. But with that said I have a MAG 9.5 as a return and am happy.
