we could arrange that. i am always down for trades. we will have to set one up when i get back from vacation.
.Newman.
when will that be? I'm leaving on vacation too for most of august so it will have to be after or before august then xD that will give your cap a lot of time to grow, ditto to my chalice.

I have a plan in case we have to trade after the pico contest stocking deadline... wink.gif
badfish816
i am on vacation from july 22nd till july 30th.
.Newman.
that only means we trade in September smile.gif cool with me.
badfish816
well alrighty then.
badfish816

badfish816
hello everybody!!!!! i am back from paradise. sux. lol. i have sooooo many pics to go through but i will definately put up a thread. my tank did ok. my top off didn't work at all (stupid sensor) but didn't evaporate to much. but i did have an outbreak of hair algea on a few frags. my lights are off but still need to inspect it more with them on.

now i have a bunch of reading to do on everyones threads.
PirateJing
badfish is back! how did the trip go?
badfish816
amazing man. visited Buck Island. rated one of the top ten islands in the world. saw amazing coral and fish. drank tons of rum. sailed the ocean.....i was born for this!!
Mr. Microscope
Yay! I'm glad to hear that your tank survived. I can't wait to hear about the trip!
.Newman.
close call with the top off. if that happened to mine everything would be gone ...
anyway glad to hear all is well and you had an awesome trip. pics nao!

badfish816
your tellin me. i am seriously looking at buying a place down there. very reasonable prices.
ParanoidObseshun
Badfish, any updates with your tank? Your thread is looking lonely lol.
badfish816
hey sorry. i have been super busy. my tank is currently going through an algea outbreak but only on certain frags. and some little pieces of cheato got in the display while i was on vacation and now i have been trying to weed out a giant rats nest of cheato growing everywhere. i will get pics as soon i get everything under control. lol. thanks for showing interest.
ParanoidObseshun
Ive had the same problem in different spots on my tank, some hair algae and bryopsis popping up on a frag or two I got a few months back, that alone has been a PITA. I also had to go through and scrape off a red kelpish algae that was spreading everywhere.

Definitely not fun at all lol. Looking forward to new pics and all.
parishilton
Welcome back and glad your tank made it through.

I would go crazy if I have to leave my tank alone more than a week.

Good thing I do not have to worry about top off that much bcos my country is so damn hot

the thing I worry about is chiller. If something is wrong with the chiller, BAM!,

everything would be all gone. Haha
badfish816
yes i am still here. times have been tough lately. still doing small cleanings on the tank here and there. got most of the algea out. lost some of my miami hurricane zoas but they will come back. i got my camera back from my parents so after the glass is cleaned i will get a pic for you guys.

thanks paris and just pray your power never goes out. lol
DönitzDK
badfish, I like your profile picture! Don Hertzfeldt FTW! biggrin.gif
badfish816
thanks. one of the funniest cartoons i have ever seen.

picked up a skimmer today for my frag tank from a guy at my lfs. i saw some bleeched palys so i asked and he cut some and throught them in. score!!!! i love freebies!!!!
ParanoidObseshun
Haha cant beat freebies!!!

Get that updated pic up soon lol
badfish816
i will. i will. stop bein so paranoid....lol
.Newman.
so how is the tank doing?
Mr. Microscope
+1 I hope everything is okay.
badfish816
tank is hanging in there. i have an algae problem since i have been using that t5 fixture. i need to hang it higher above the tank. getting ready to move here in the next few weeks so i am dreading that. hopefully i can set my frag tank and redo this pico. pics once i get the camera back from my parents.
.Newman.
i see. algae is always annoying.
Mr. Microscope
Good luck with the rescape.
Mr. Microscope
Hey badfish! Where've you been? Any updates on your tank? 'Hoping all is well.

i have the ato top off controller but haven't picked up a pump for it and i dont like the huge sensor it comes with. i'm dirt poor right now. so i dont think i will be able to spend any money for awhile. manual top offs are all i can do right now.

You can do better than manual topoffs when you're away if you want. You need a culligan jug like this one:

Use CA (krazy glue) to glue in a tube, that's longer than you need. Rest the jug on the tank and mark the desired water line on the tube, then cut it to length. Here's a close-up - the clear tube is glued into the original jug:

Then, when you rest it on top of your tank, as it evaps water drips into the tank. A reservoir this size should last your pico for longer than you're willing to leave it unattended (shown here on my son's freshwater tank):

Overall this setup is probably too ugly for you when you're near your tank, but very practical when away. Or, if you want to get fancy, hide it on a shelf somewhere and just run the hose over to the tank, and you can use a setup like this all the time.

badfish816
hey guys. thanks for the concerns. i have been to hell and back. my tank took a huge hit awhile ago and lost some stuff. my spartans are suffering and trying to recoup. i lost my rainbow monti and my orange monti is tryin to make a come back. i will get some pics up soon hopefully. the tank is still at my inlaws house as i have not yet had the time or the space to move it over to my new place. i need it hear though. lol

Welcome Back!
Drift Monkey
badfish! I took a long hiatus as well...good to have ya back!
Mr. Microscope
Welcome back! Can't wait to see how the tank is doing.
Freemind
Hey Bad, I'm from Olathe. What LFS do you go to?
badfish816
hey guys. missed all you. the tank is being over run with GSP. and i mean like mad!!!! i need to frag a bunch. i am currently trying to set up a frag tank and move everything over and start over on the pico. i am never using that Bali Alor rock again. but i need new bulbs for the NEP and dont want to spend the cash just yet.

hey freemind all my coral came from random people online. i used to frequent paradise aquatics in OP. some supplies i got from fish world here in blue springs. but the best store is the one out there at you guys mall down off 135th street i believe, forgot the name of it though. i joined the local reef gang here on Saltcity.org. pretty cool guys and gals
.Newman.

Can't understand why I missed your update...

That actually sounds like a fun pico, any pictures of this GSP madness? I bet it looks wicked.
Drift Monkey
You should start a xenia v. gsp war! laugh.gif
badfish816
i packed my camera in the move and now i am trying to locate it. the gsp has gotten so bad it is starting to clime the walls. haha. i checked it the other day and the orange monti cap finally died and the spartans dont look like they are going to recover. sux. but thats apart of reefing i guess. my next project is getting my frag tank going. i have a tunze 9002 that i bought and have never used yet!!!

and i am not quite sure i want to introduce xenia into this tank. kinda scary. lol
gena
hey badfish....glad so see you again smile.gif I left for awhile too. I don't have my pico anymore but started over with a nanocube. I'm enjoying this one a lot more.

I love the look of over-grown tanks. I bet the gsp looks great! I'll look forward to seeing a pic. of it wink.gif
Weetabix7
Maybe you explained it elsewhere and I missed it, but can you explain why you wouldn't use Bali Alor rock again?
badfish816
the bali was gorgeous when i got it, lots of life. and that is exactly why i wont use it again. if it is for a fuge or some type of biotope then awesome. but i battled and am still battling unwanted algea and pests that came with that rock. just too much of hassle. if i were to restart i would just use base rock, bake it then seed with some coraline. i can control it more that way. a lot of people like the nature of it. but it was a pain to control. lol
.Newman.
pssssst.....wheres the pictures?
