hi guys. i have 3 mangroves in a pico. there growing i think. one of them lost a leaf and there getting soft. my salinity is 23-24.
you can see photos of them on the last page in this post

all help will be appreciated or if could guide me to a good care sheet.

also the top ones are getting very little indirect lighting form the windows next to the tank.

how is your magnesium? mangroves need adequate magnesium (1200-1300 should do it) to work their salt pumps. If it gets too low, they dehydrate. Mist them with FW, and check the mag and you should see improvements if it was already growing. If you bought a tree and didnt do the very long acclimation procedure needed it may just be withering back to die. Not much you can do there.

23-24 salinity? Do you mean 1.023-1.024 specific gravity? Reef aquariums should be 34-36 ppt for salinity.

yea i mean 1.023-.024. i check mg it was low so i added some. and i misted them, ill see how they do

Very good article. Thank you for it. I add some mag yesterday and one of them got hard it's no longer mushy. The other still is. Maybe thats what it was the mag.

mag was the culprit then. very important for mangroves, good luck to you!
