It genuinely is a good fixture, I'm not making that up.
I got rid of it cause I switched to T5HO and I was getting a bigger tank.
BibleSue got rid of it cause she was getting a bigger tank.

How problematic do you think it would be to put this in a BC29 hood? WAAAY too hot?
DHaut
Aug 16 2009, 10:01 AM
Unfortunately, you'd probably need a chiller if you put it in a hood like that. Someone else can weigh in though because I've never tried it.

Aug 16 2009, 10:28 AM
I figured I'd need a chiller, but I'm wondering what else may be needed too. I'll not HiJack your thread though, if anyone knows, they can PM me about it.

This is kind of a matter of opinion, but I personally wouldn't put a MH retro in an AIO hood.
I know that some people do it and just DIY fans in to vent out the hot air, but I'm not knowledgeable on that.
You should PM SPerry and ask him about it, he's used lots of AIO tanks and I'm pretty sure he's done this kind of thing at some point.
He could offer some pretty good input.

Seems like if you run a chiller, you shouldn't have any problems.
And no worries on hijacking - keeps the thread bumped, lol.

Here I is!!!
As mentioned earlier, this used to be my light.
It's a good light, and I had great coral growth and coloration under it.
Here are some pics taken from my old tank when it had this light over it:

I'm so tempted to buy this a mod my BC29 hood...I already have a chiller.
I'm worried about the zoas I have near the top of my tank, and how well my 2x silnex fans will do at keeping the buld cool.

Well if you had mentioned that it wasn't any old 150w MH in my tank thread maybe I would've shown a little more interest....

This is history here peeps. This retro fixture is legendary. Not just mere lighting for your nano.
It's like owning a piece of Yankee Stadium or one of Elvis's leather suits.
Don't miss this chance to have this NR heirloom for your very own!
Comes with a certificate of authenticity I'm sure.
....better start typing out that certificate DH.
Get it notarized as well.

You could easily just hang it, or screw it to a 2x4 or something over the tank. It's just the guts of a MH fixture - mount it how you like.
