Anyone interested in a mated pair of candy basslet? (L. carmabi) They've been in my care for about 6 months now, perfectly healthy. Please shoot me a PM if so, serious inquiries only please. smile.gif

for like 100$ yes, but no if you are going to charge any more than 500$, nobody would buy for that from another hobbyist, just saying. Though, if you find someone to pay that then, you are the master of negotiants. EDIT: My mistake, you're a retailer, good luck though. Seriously.

I'm not going to buy them but a pic of the pair together would be nice.

Umm, he's a sponsor, so leave him alone, and those fish are worth atleast $700 a piece, they go for more than $500 wholesale, so I don't see why he'd sell a pair for $500. Aslo if Ihad the money to buy the pair, I would, especially since he's had them for 6 mo.

How much for the pair?
UniqueCorals
It's ok guys, Ragdoll made a mistake. $500 for the pair is kinda too cheap though...biggrin.gif

Please shoot me a PM if anyone's seriously interested in the pair for more pics & prices. Would rather keep it private for obvious reasons...
RagDoll

I was going to say. Isn't that the same as the Bali Swiss Guard or it that a different fish?

Edit: I see, not the same fish. Wow those are expensive, beautiful tho. They have one for $900 on liveaquaria.com . So for a pair, woohoo.... Gorgeous if you've got the dough.
Kraylen
Totally different fish. carmabi

Morgan, they're fround in the keys, bahamas, and a bunch of islands in the carribean but most come out of curacao. they inhabit very deep water, that's why they're so expensive.
Reef Goddess
Sorry Kraylen, I was busy looking at Monocentris japonica which also inhabit very deep water. ;p
Kraylen
Pinecone fish? meh.

Easiest way to tell apart a swissguard and a candy basslet is that a candy basslet lack a circular "spot" on their anal fin. smile.gif

K - LOL tempting...tempting... bah, I like yah. Stay around. biggrin.gif

And the Candies have violet stripes and the Swiss don't yes?
BumbleBeeJBG
Free bump for an incredible retailer. I got some of the best LR I ever got from them and will be my future LFS even though they're a borough away.

Seriously, that has been one of my dream fish for 3 years now. This is only the 2nd or 3 rd time I have ever seen them available. I know a licensed collector in Florida, that will get me one for around $800 - $1000 but that is still way too much for me right now. They are so expensive due to the lengths necessary to catch them. They live at depths of 350 - 400 feet on deep walls in the Atlantic and Caribbean, requires a rebreather with Normoxic Tri Mix Gas to dive that deep (costs about 200.00 for the gas fill), several hours of Decompression for diver and fish, Needle to puncture the air bladder on the fish to remove expanding air as they come to the surface, etc. etc. I will have one some day. As for most comments on them about never being seen, not so true. Black Cap basslets and Swalesi have had the same comments made, but once they get used to a tank they will come out.

Liveaquaria has a pair for around $1900.
