Yea thats all they had where males. They jawfish is visible in the open now he sticks his head out and watches things.

We decided to name him Grover because he acts like a dog=rover and my wife thinks he looks like a muppet. So Grover it is. Hes actually out exploring the tank right now. I dont want to take any pics of him for fear I will scare him back into seclusion. Here is one as he is starting to get brave.

Picked up a regular Female scooter this afternoon. Shes pretty plump and very active. Male is allready trained to the food dish. Stupid Grover is guarding it though. Keeps tryign to run him off.

Check out the thread on my 75gal sand flats tank idea. http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=211723

Great thread! Thanks for all of your work w/ the mandarins.

What's your method for getting the Mandarins to eat bloodworms and Mysis?

So you finally got another mandarin up to your standards? Pictures?
D3monic
No not yet... =( Im on the look out though. I have a cute female scooter who desperatly wants me to find her a mate though. Every night she goes nuts looking for a mate zipping back and forth in the water column.

Got a Scooter spawn tonight! 11-17-09 surprisingly at the same time my Mandarins would spawn 9:30ish pm.

Unlike the Mandarins eggs these are positively buoyant and stayed in their strands thankfully. Made for a easy collection.

Oops broke the link...

Here's the deleted pic and a new one.

Oddly the Ocellatus eggs possess a oil globule. Spledidus eggs did not possess a oil globule.

Fertilization confirmation. Egg development slowed due to low temps of hatching container.

17 Hours post spawn.

D3monic
I got another spawn today. Managed to catch it on tape.

Eyes sight is back to normal. Still run the risk of developing MS. I refused to take the interferon medications. Mainly because of cost. 30k a year without insurance. I have insurance but still out of my price range.

What is this great holocaust you speak of? I read through your thread did I miss something?

When collecting a Mandarin spawn I left the pumps off to feed the coral....I woke up the next morning realizing I left the pumps off. All the fish exept a bangaii where dead. I took this video of them spawning that night not realizing it was the last time I would see them alive.

I'm sorry to hear that. Did you p*ss off a gypsy?
D3monic
lol apparently I did.

I currently have five fry left. I am shocked that they have made it this far since I do not have any rotifer cultures. I have been sieving my copopod cultures and apparently they are finding enough naups. I did things differently than normal and it appears to be working. I did not use a air line as usual and just kind of let the water in the tank and kreisel slowly mix. There are virtually no currents in the kreisel. The pod naups are congregating at the waters surface and the fry are all up there striking and feeding. The lack of current is is allowing the pods to concentrate which is making up for the lack of numbers for the fry. I do fear water quality may become an issue with all the empty egg casings in the bottom so I will have to do some maintenance tonight. I lost track of how old this batch is. I would have to say somewhere around 4-5 days.
