Yeah can't wait to see what you do with it! No doubt impressive like everything else you take probably ahah laugh.gif
And wow, 10-20mm, that should make for some pretty nice wider shots.

Your house is tiny. tongue.gif

(I bet you'll do great stuff with that lens)

Thanks.. unfortunately today's trip was a bust. Instead of visiting places I had already been to, I decided to try a new area........ not a single solitary interesting place worth stopping at. But, in a couple of hours, I'm going to head over to a local power plant and snaps some pics of it at night. They light that place up big time. We'll see how that goes! Tomorrow though, I'll definitely go to the areas I know and will come back with pics.

It's a nice little place. smile.gif

Ok, well... my mom and SIL ended up tagging along (sleep.gif) so didn't do all that I wanted to tonight... because half the time I was teaching my SIL how to use her camera. Ah well.. hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to do some of the abandonment shots..

A couple of shots from earlier today.. yup, same plantation house as I posted a while back, but this one is a subtle HDR.... forgot to do a landscape format shot of it.. lol.

Holy pincushion distortion! tongue.gif

Great shots with what I can gather is a great lens. If I wasn't a broke student I would be looking at getting that lens myself.

The Mamiya? omgomgomg.gif
And why are you selling the XT? I'd keep it for a backup.... or IR conversion.
jeremai
the ginger gave me an ultimatum - exotic vacation or new camera. the only way I get both is to clean house. all of my old field cameras are going as well. tears01.gif

Those shots are a ####ton sharper than I ever managed out of any I used, Kim. mad.gif were you using manual focus or relying on autofocus?
Lalani
Autofocus for most of them. Guess I ended up with a good copy. happydance.gif
SPerry
These pics like all yours look great, but being a non-photog, what does this lens do that others dont? ie why so excited about getting it?
Lalani
It's a wider angle of view, meaning you can fit more into the frame than with a longer focal length lens. I'll take some example shots later if you'd like, comparing this lens with my others. smile.gif

This lens has been on my wish list for the last 2 or 3 years now. I finally rented it last month, the sharpness and image quality is absolutely unreal. It was a lot of fun, I didn't want to send it back.
Lalani
I know what you mean!

Storm yesterday seemed to have knocked out my home phone, and internet along with that. sleep.gif

Anyway, here are some example shots, all taken from the exact same standing location:

Maybe that's my problem... shooting in darker conditions without a speedlite I HATE relying on the AF. Now that I think about it it's possible it explains a lot of the problems. Gotta love trying to use cameras and being concurrently partially blind eh? tears01.gif

Perspective at 20mm looks sweet as for your tank. It gives us a little glimpse into Laniworld! happy.gif

Ooh, very cool. Great pics. Thanks for the comparison shots, those help clarify things a lot.

Wood paneling rocks.
Lalani
Thanky. flower.gif
I don't like the wood paneling. sad.gif

Oh, and a couple more shots... it's just too much fun..

I think this lens is great if you want to get creative. I planned to buy one a year ago, but held off to get a more practical (for me) 18-50mm f/2.8. I've seen some great landscape/beach shots using the 10-20mm lens and the cokin p-series graduated filters. You can achieve a nice HDR look without the post-processing. I really like the distortion too. It adds a sense of motion to landscapes.

Yeah, I'll be using this lens along side my 28-135mm, which will be plenty of range for what I like to do. The graduated filters would be cool, but I honestly don't take the time for stuff like that. I'm a little spastic when it comes to taking pics, lol.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Once upon a time, I used to get up early, set up on the beach, and wait for the sun to rise just to get that perfect shot (which I'd likely overexpose! tongue.gif ). Now that I have a baby, those days are gone. I just fire off shots when I get a chance and they pile up, unprocessed, on my hard drive. I pretty much just keep my 50mm f/1.8 on the camera all the time for baby shots.

thinking about doing the IR conversion with my XT. just not sure if I'd use it enough to justify the cost. Then again, trying to get more than $300 out of a used XT is tough too. it only has 15k clicks, so it should be good for a while.

*runs off to look in to IR conversions*
Lalani
Yeah, ever since I found the lifepixel website, I've been wanting to do the conversion.. IR shots are just so whimsical, and I've plenty of foliage around here to use it often. Still thinking about converting mine when I eventually upgrade.

Yeah, just saw the same site. $180 is a lot for a stupid filter though!!! $300 if you want them do do it for you ohmy.gif
