Did you say that you picked up a bucket of Brightwell's NeoMarine salt recently? Have you tried it out yet? I might be picking up some this afternoon and thought I would check to see how you liked it thus far.

Yes I did pick up a bucket of the Brightwells ... last trip back from Philly, found it for $50 per bucket ... so I gave it a shot. Did a 20G water change with it just over a week ago (seems like enoug time for things to have adjusted). Let's see ... I have new tips all over my acros ... no joke (some have had nice little growth spurts) ... montis are now 50% larger then they were ... I am getting more PE (also from the vodka no doubt) ... everything just looks really healthy. I love it ... the parameters are pretty much spot in with the mix alone!!! At least this was my observation. I highly recommend using it ... 100% you will NOT be disappointed!

SKIMMER PUMP BURNED OUT TODAY ... YAY!!! Such a good day today ... my skimmer is out for the count ... gotta see if I can get Aquacave to ship me one for Saturday delivery ... yay ... just want I needed to happen! YAY!!!

Yeah ... the pump is fine ... the IMPELLER was busted ... the guys at Aquacave were REALLy helpful ... the mesh mod busted ... not going to use it on the next impeller ... Just overskim. In either case ... with my fuge and everything ... they were laughing ... they were like ... why do you need that skimmer anyways?! lol ... Mangroves, Chaeto, mud, etc.etc.

Good news that it was just the impeller--assuming that's a cheaper fix.

impellers are ussually cheaper than a new pump

Skimmer is back and running ... forget the mesh mod ... not worth the trouble ...

Anyways ... DIY project for the morning ... cutting up eggcrate and using twist ties to hold up my mangroves.

Well the tank I got it from, the coral was under a 6-bulb TEK T-5 fixture, then to transfer to my MH and VHO's ... I put it directly half way up ... It's in the current of my vortech as far as flow pattern is concerned. If it fades at all ... I will put it higher up. The Echinata is one of the nicest SPS I know of ... one of my personal favorites!

Droolz... I am no jealous of all your sps. wish we could get some like that in Canada... but we only can if we can smuggle them across the border.

oh ok. well i think im going to pick one up from my LFS today (i work at the place =P) and will put it under direct halide light with lots of flow as well (2 vortech's 1 40s and a 20)
any reason to think that it will fade or anything? here at the shop its about a 3 inches away from the direct spot of light the halide is giving it.

Thanks Saul ... yeah ... the colors are getting to be really intense! Love having the 4 VHO's for color and the nice 10K MH Bulb for growth ... they balance each other out very nicely! As for the DIY mangrove rack ... I was so tired of having a messy fuge ... got to keep this tank nice and clean.

Some sort of sea grass ... also known as Bob's Sea Grass since it originated from Tobin (Bob1000) over on MR ... stuff grows sooooooo nicely! Want some? I got some chaeto down there thanks to NR/MR member Bubbles ... and then I have a nice think layer of sand and fiji mud (good stuff).

Vodka dosing ... increased to 1.3ml per day.
