You know something I just realized ... we had a REALLY mild summer ... my tanks temps NEVER went over 80 ... never had to run the AC ... only a few fans ... AWESOME!!! biggrin.gif Saved so much on my electricity bill that's for sure!
DCG1286
I think a nice giant Brain Coral is in store for this tank ... to fill out the bottom ... not sure yet ... just throwing out some ideas ... Maybe a large War Coral ... or an Acan patch ... i can't decide ... lol biggrin.gif

Midnight madness?!?!?!?!?!?!?! What is this?! biggrin.gif

Please tell me more laugh.gif

Midnight Madness is their big annual sale. I've read mixed reviews, seems like some years are better than others, but it definitely seems worth checking out. 9PM-Midnight. Reps will be there from _________, the additives you've been using whose name escapes me right now, and there are opportunities to win, ummm, stuff.

Check out the website and tell me whatcha think. biggrin.gif Come to think of it, I'm going to ask Richie if he's ever gone.

GREAT new additions. That PM is a really decent sized frag for that coral. Hope they all do well and grow fast for you. The largest PM I ever saw in person was about the size of a small nerf football....needless to say it was pretty amazing and I couldn't believe how much $$$ was sitting there waiting to be trimmed smile.gif

Thank you very much biggrin.gif It was a gift from the g/f ... apparently she was planning to pick this piece up for a while ... I didn't even realize my friend had a mini colony in his tank ... lol ... it was WELL HIDDEN!!! I hope it grows fast as well ... although as most of us have heard it is indeed a very slow grower, but my finger's are crossed!

So I went to The Hidden Reef in Levittown, PA today right before going back to NYC ... picked up some NIIIICCCCEEEEEE pieces!!!

Tabling Acro (12x9")
Pink Tip Torch
Cyanaria
Elegance Coral

Only had time to snap a shot of the Acro. More shots to come tomorrow!

New Tabling Acro Colony!
scottyreef

Believe it or not ... no ... it didn't ... lol ... they sell pieces like that around NYC for $400-600 ... no joke ... I picked it up for $160 ... yes it's a pretty penny ... but at the same time ... we can easily spend it on 1-2 frags wink.gif ...

OH ... I should mention ... I purchased a bucket of that Brightwells new Neo Marine Salt. Going to start using it as of tomorrow ... I have heard some great things about it!
scottyreef
thats a good price do you know if its a wild colony or is it aquacultured or maricultured. i asked that because you really have to keep your eye on large pieces especially if they are wild caught. i have pieces like that either die or in one case give my other corals some weird disease that make my corals brak out is some types of hives. Anyway great piece maybe we can do some coral trading sometime down the road

They told me the piece was aquacultured (where not sure ... plus for that size it's been growing for quite some time) ... most of the stuff they had was ... They seemed like quite the trustworthy store ... I HATE wild colonies ... there are a number of places around here that get them in ... most if not all rot at some point and infect the tank with some weird disease (as you stated) ... but you know ... when they tell you $35 for a colony some guys just can't say no ... lol ... Coral trading sounds great to me!!! I know your collection ... I keep a list of what I want. wink.gif

I picked up a small LED fuge light ... tired of these crappy Home Depot $.87 for 4 light bulbs cr@pping out on me all the time.

This shop was the first on the east coast that carried ENTIRE supplies of Brightwells ... and great prices ... along with an entire supply for the Zeovit systems ... reactors and all. Interesting. Apparently alot of guys around there are running Zeo systems so the stuff is definitely selling. $$$$$$$ though. biggrin.gif

Nice tabling acro! That is my favorite acropora growth form. I've kind of got a halfway form with a "solitaryensis" frag, more plating than tabling; hopefully it will grow like my montis.

YOOOOOO!!! Just to make TWO points clear...
1-We DID pick up some schweet pieces today before heading back to NYC
2-You, my dearest, are NOT keeping MY pink torch nor the cyanaria...I DO NOT care if I have to pry them out of the tank in the middle of the night and drop-kick your butt to get it back...LMAO!! I love you BUT not enough to give you those two pieces. >mua<
divecj5
That Tabling Acro is simply amazing. I would put that somewhere right in the middle of the tank and let it GROW. It could easily be the show piece in your tank gauging on the size it looks to be.

Thanks Laks ... I really really LOVE the tabling acros ... the growth pattern on them is simply stunning!!! I want to get a few more the collection for sure!

Thanks wink.gif ... Knew you would like it. This piece is MASSIVE ... I need to clear out some space in the middle to make it fit ... it would be the perfect centerpiece for the tank indeed! I love the look of the tabling acros like those Japanese tanks ... how they are all growing one on top of each other! That is so cool!

Although one thing did happen while I was away (although I think it happened the night before I left) My Redheaded jawfish somehow managed to jump out of the back ... hit the wall and make it into the ATO reservoir ... mind you it's not the easiest thing to get over to it ... and plus with the lid on it ... there was only a 1 1/2" opening for him to get through ... I remember walking into the apt. yesterday ... my corals looked so great ... and everything was extended so far ... now I know ... his remains were feeding the tank while I was gone. lol ... So funny ... yet not ... lol. I still cannot figure out how he made it into that bucket ... it just doesn't seem possible. DAMN!!!

DHaut
YES! actually, don't give me too many. I want to make sure the new setup runs smoothly and the levels are right (shouldn't be an issue) before I throw a bunch of frags in there. 1,000 might be pushing it. I'll settle for 500.
