Tanks coming along - i need to do some pic updates.

I've got one tiny red/orange cap and a few inch red cap, but it seems like it always takes forever for the frags to turn into anything even close to the spectacular cap you've got! I might take you up on the offer some day down the road. Right now, my reef cash for the month is going into the WL swap shipping and a possible LA order. Once the weather warms up and I've got some dough, you'll probably be getting a PM from me!

Oh, and I like the name.

hahaha .. lmk dude! I know what you mean ... frags do take a while to grow, but once they take hold ... colonies are just around the corner!

THanks NRF ... my skillz with the cr@ppy camera are getting better ... lol ... Usually the colors are so off ... now they are slightly better and more of what they look like in person!

I got a second Vortech going on there ... a friend was VERY generous enough to give me one of his 4 when he broke his 220 down ... I did the dirty work, taking calls and e-mails for getting it sold ... so in return I got the vortech, some coral colonies and a Litermeter III.

Looks fantastic David. I bet those SPS are really digging the additional flow from the Vortechs (lucky bastard ).

Camera skills are really coming along....coloration and clarity has definitely improved.

Seriously I think I am getting more growth from dosing by hand then with the reactor!

Update ... lol ... been busy making a recording ... so now time to post a couple new pictures ... I have been playing around with the settings of my camera ... I finally learned how to do that! lol. Here's what I got!

Thanks Rich! Still nothing compared to your little cube you have there. How you still liking your ATI fixture? I am considering picking up a 10 bulb ATI in the Spring ... sell off my halides and some frags ... fund it ... lol.
I also am deeply considering the Pacific Sun LED's ... but I am still holding off to see how peoples tanks do with them ... no one really had an SPS dominated tank ... just a few frags and colonies here and there. Warren did that great write up on MR ... pretty convincing!

I would hold off a while on the LED's David. If you decide you don't like them you are going to take a beating on the resale value. I know they can grow SPS but I am still not convinced on the current spectrums they produce being the best for great SPS colors. I haven't seen any LED SPS tanks that really impressed me yet.

The ATI T5 fixture is awesome. Growth and colors are excellent. I would still prefer 250w 10k halides with 4 blue+ on a tank your size, but a 10 bulb ATI fixture would certainly work well on your tank with less heat and electricity. I think an 8 bulb would might even be enough.

Yeah I fully agree with you on the LED's ... plus the vibe that some of those guys give me ... not very comforting ... I understand business is business ... but they put down every last unit, but their own. Somehow their's are perfect.

Yeah the halides are doing wonders for the tank ... always have, always will ... Maybe if I do try a T-5 fixture, I will use it on a nano tank/frag tank first.

Now that I am in Queens ... I have to come over and check out your tank one of these days.

With a tank your size, I would try to retro some T5's, personally. Seems like the best way to get the best bang for your buck.

Except buying bulbs every 8 months will SUCK. Changed my mind - buy LEDs.

I don't know anyone who changes their T5's so often. Guys I know with nice SPS tanks let them go over a year with no problems.

That's what I thought ... I was running a T-5 fixture on a small tank at one point ... didn't change the bulbs for a good year+ ... didn't seem to make that much of a difference.

Right now I have a pair of Phoenix 14k's in there ... I don't run the actinics while the halides are on. I have been thinking of getting a 10K bulb ... maybe Reeflux.

David.... The tank looks great! The corals are filling in nice and you have some nice colonies going there!

They will grow like crazy ... I turned tHem all into colonies from 1" frag ... the undata and chili pepper are with me for quite a while now. My Rainbow also started to encrust over the entire frag plug.

Yeah, and it'll get more and more teal blue over time. Be sure to feed it some meaty foods when the polyps are out. It'll def. take them.
