So heres my 34 gallon some of you remember.

Since i finally moved I decided to do another. I wanted to do this one bigger and better as well as a couple of surprises. So i ordered a 39 gallon from my buddy eddie over at cadlights. So i wait a few days and finally my tank arrives. But to my horror ups did this my tank dry.gif mad.gif sad.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Needless to say i was really pissed but eddie told me not to worry about it he would send another tank. But i thought about it and decided it wasnt worth the risk of ups destroying another perfectly good tank. So i decided to go to Brooklyn and pick the tank up myself. I got a chance to finally meet eddie in person( great guy btw) and picked up my tank(he even helped me get it into my car) hows that for customer service!! And to top it all off eddie refunded me the shipping charges on the tank. So now you have a pretty good idea how awesome cadlight service is.Please dont hesistate to buy a tank from eddie...hes really one of a kind.

So im just about ready to set my tank up but on my way to work i get hit by a tractor trailer(see pics) and separate my shoulder pretty badly.

So a few weeks go by and i just cant take it and even though it hurts like heck i managed to get my tank together. So enough talking heres the tank this time with leds..

JLwaves
Wow that looks awesome, and the lighting is killer. Sorry to hear about your shoulder though, but your setup is very sweet.
Rehype
Thanks alot Jl

I said this before the Nano Reef crash of July 2009....

CADLights are sweet tanks...sweet setup with the aqua illumination LEDs! You have all the goods for a great tank. If I remember correctly, you had LR in and took some shots of the LEDs with different lighting configs....

Keep us posted...I'm looking at a CADLights 39 Pro right now and have been reading up on what others are doing with their CADs.

Thanks i needed to repost those pics since the site crashed.I finally finished aquascaping. It came out the way i wanted so im pretty happy about that. I was playing around with the leds. First pic is with all of the leds on at 100% The second is with just the blue leds at 100% and the last pic is one module with all leds on and the second module with just blue leds

JLwaves
Want. Jealous.
ontheDL
I hear ya. Can't wait to see the progress!
Rehype
So i finally got around to hanging the leds. I bought a sulight hanging kit and personally think its the best. It sooo easy to adjust the height when you need to mess around inside the tank.So heres some pics with the lights on and off

Paleoreef103
Sweet tank! Can't wait to see this one evolve. Your 34 was gorgeous.
JoshG
Looks great man!! What are you running in your back fuge?
Rehype
Thanks alot guys. At the moment the rear chambers are pretty empty...waiting for some more equipment
pismo_reefer

So my GHl profilux controller came in yesterday along with my doser. I got a wickedly good deal on the entire package which includes the

Profilux II Plus Controller
6 Outlet powerbar
Temp probe
PH probe
3 pump dosing unit

One of the best things about the profilux controller is the ability to utilize the full potential of my aquaillumination led sytem. The standard controller that comes with the led system is very limited. But with the profilux you get to unleash its true potential. Imagine having clouds pass over your reef. What about the occasional rainy days, and lightning storms? You can have it with a Profilux. You also earn the ability to set multiple lighting periods throughout the photoperiod. A major drawback that other lighting systems (and the AI with a standard controller) have is that you can set sunrise and sunset, but the rest of the day your lights shine at 100%. In nature, the light intensity changes throughout the day. My reef gets a nice sunrise, then from sunrise to noon, the lights increase to maximum intensity. Then, just like in nature, the light intensity gradually decreases until sunset. So does my reef. And, with cloud probability, storms, and rainy days. . . everyday is different!

So i picked up my Blue spotted jawfish this evening. I acclimated him with the lights out which i think really helps when introducing new fish. After about 10 minutes in the tank he started constructing his burrow. This fish is so funny to watch. He literally peeks out at you every few minutes to keep track of where you are then goes back to what he was doing.

I managed to grab the cam while he was working on his burrow. Quality is kind of crappy bc of compression and lighting but im glad i got something.

So enough jawing meet BJ

3rd times the charm huh?

i hope insurance covered the tank too
Rehype
The tank was actually damaged separately by UPS dry.gif
disaster999
oh sorry, i mis read, thought you got into an accident WHILE transporting the tank back. that would been pretty F'ed up
Rehype
Lol tell me about it!
Rehype
So i managed to grab a shot of bj. Its kind of cool how his blue spots appear to glow white under blue leds.

Paleoreef103
Awesome little Blue Jaw. I think Jawfish in general are the coolest fish there is. They're just so quirky.
Rehype
Thanks i think so too. They have some of the best personalities as far as fish are concerned. I redid the vid since the first one was so crappy. Check it out if you have a chance
Paleoreef103
Looks like you got a healthy, active specimen! I love when they build their burrows, they're so paranoid!
Rehype
Thanks i sure hope he stays that way.I was really happy because he started burrowing almost immediately. And as you can see he eats like a pig! Hes really paranoid but what surprises me is he doesnt mind openly swimming around during the day and late at night. Most jawfish that ive seen rarely venture out of their burrows.
burtbollinger
your setup is badass...
Rehype
Thanks alot Burt

man this tank looks just like the jbj picotope but 36gal bigger...nice
PurpleG
Awesome tank!! sorry to hear about your shoulder!! Are you feeling better now?

I was wondering where you got your LEDs?? How many LEDs do you have?? I'm thinking of asking my friend to build one for me and he's suggesting 18 LED lights for a 22g. I am really tempted to get this tank. I'm upgrading from a BC8

I'm just concerned about the evaporation rate, even though I'm planning to get the glass cover. Speaking of which, does your glass cover the chambers too??

Also, I was wondering how much was your controller that does the light effect? Sounds like an awesome concept and would love to add it to my setup

Finally, is a skimmer really necessary for a 22g?

Thanks alot im doing alot better now. I bought the leds from another reefer but you can buy them directly from reefgeek. Theres 24 leds in each fixture so total of 48. I totally recommend cad tanks. Theyre great and customer service is top notch.

The evaporation isnt that bad at all and i have the canopy on(prevent jawfish surfing) and the canopy doesnt cover the back chambers

If you get the ghl profilux light its only $300. The package i got not including the doser brand new would cost $552.

I wouldnt say its nescessary if you keep up with water changes but it definitely helps. But ive run a few tanks skimmerless for a while with no negative effects. Some corals actually prefer the water a bit "dirty"

Thanks for posting the vid

Quite the comical fellow happy.gif

Not that I am one to complain, but the topic description is somewhat misleading.
I leave slightly disappointed and unsatisfied. wink.gif
