So i decided to replace the filamented flasher with a McCoskers Flasher Wrasse. His colors are absolutely gorgeous. The pics dont even do him justice.The colors look different depending on the temperature of the lighting. The cool thing is he flashes almost constantly( I think hes showing off for my sunburst ) Well ill be sure to update once i get a pic of the other newcomer

Any update on the zeovit? Have you noticed a drop in N, P, or algae?

Dang Eugene, those fish are sick! And the suspence of the new addition is killing me already

Still dosing everyday.Ive noticed a decrease in phosphate as well as nitrates. I havent really noticed any reduction in algae since i never had an issue with it. I will say the process is kind of slow but thats to be expected (since i already had a huge bioload to begin with) Ill see what my parameters are at the one month mark(which is next saturday)

Hey tim i say invest in some more livestock first and later maybe pickup a macrolens for tank pics. But you have enough equipment to take great pics right now IMO

eeeeeh... i mean, i love the value i get from my d40 body, but my 18-135 lens is so slow. fastest i can get it is f/3.5 at 18mm. i look at something like the 35mm f/1.8, or even the 50mm f/1.8, and i think "now THAT, for $200 (or for the 50mm, $125), would make my life easy." you disagree?

I agree with you but a faster lens also means shallower depth of field.You get more light reaching the sensor but you may have a harder time getting your subjects in sharp focus because the shallow dof.

That's awesome! I can't believe it ate something that large. I mean that silverside was giant and it just grabbed it.

The funny thing is hes eaten ones even larger than that one and yet hes the most docile and shy fish in the tank.

Looking good. What temp would you say your lights are? When I started out I really liked the super blue look, but now my tastes are kind of changing to a bright white look, like the cloud pic above. It must be nice to be able to change it on a whim with the LEDs

Thanks B.The level of control with the profilux is really nice. My tank gets a nice sunrise, then from sunrise to noon, the lights increase to maximum intensity. Then the light intensity gradually decreases until sunset. Then throw in cloud probability, storms, and rainy days the color temp is different nearly everytime i look at the tank.
