Rehype
So i decided to replace the filamented flasher with a McCoskers Flasher Wrasse. His colors are absolutely gorgeous. The pics dont even do him justice. The colors look different depending on the temperature of the lighting. The cool thing is he flashes almost constantly( I think hes showing off for my sunburst laugh.gif) Well ill be sure to update once i get a pic of the other newcomer wink.gif

Still dosing everyday.Ive noticed a decrease in phosphate as well as nitrates. I havent really noticed any reduction in algae since i never had an issue with it. I will say the process is kind of slow but thats to be expected (since i already had a huge bioload to begin with) Ill see what my parameters are at the one month mark(which is next saturday)

Thanks b. Yea i have my 100mm macro. im going to pick up a Sigma 50 1.4 and probably a tamron 17-50 VC when its released.
timdanger
this thread is fun to follow because you CONSTANTLY have something new to look at!

awesome camera.

i can't decide whether to buy a new lens for my nikon d40 (i'm just using an all-purpose 18-135mm lens for everything right now) to take nicer pictures, or to buy more fish stuff so I have something to take nicer pictures of!

Any luck selling your old camera?

Too bad about the firefish - bet he would've been neat.
Rehype
Thanks alot Tim. I try to update my thread with enough stuff that ppl will actually feel like stopping in smile.gif

Hey tim i say invest in some more livestock first and later maybe pickup a macrolens for tank pics. But you have enough equipment to take great pics right now IMO

Ive had some offers but nothing solid as of yet

Yeah i was a bit disappointed but i think i found a replacement. I just have to do a bit more research... wink.gif
Weetabix7
Beautiful new Wrasse.
I've always liked McCosker's Wrasses and would like to get one myself sometime down the road.

eeeeeh... i mean, i love the value i get from my d40 body, but my 18-135 lens is so slow. fastest i can get it is f/3.5 at 18mm. i look at something like the 35mm f/1.8, or even the 50mm f/1.8, and i think "now THAT, for $200 (or for the 50mm, $125), would make my life easy." you disagree?

I agree with you but a faster lens also means shallower depth of field. You get more light reaching the sensor but you may have a harder time getting your subjects in sharp focus because the shallow dof.

ohmy.gif Gorgeous. The 7D looks to be a real beast. Here I am stuck with my 20D drooling over your new toy smile.gif

Can't wait to see shots with the 100mm paired up with the 7D. The results are no doubt going to be breathtaking.

Paleoreef103
That's awesome! I can't believe it ate something that large. I mean that silverside was giant and it just grabbed it.
Rehype
The funny thing is hes eaten ones even larger than that one and yet hes the most docile and shy fish in the tank.
DaveFason
Love it!

If you dont mind me asking how much did you find him for?

-Dave
Rehype
Thanks dave. He was a little over $200
karazy

LOL yea they always free dive off of the rock when they realize im feeding the tank.

He looks menacing but he really is the shyest and has the most peaceful demeanor.

Quick FTS of the aquscape. Still no corals(except the ric).. lol. Ive kind of been enjoying it as a FOWLR tank Since i havent run one in a few years. But ill probably start adding frags in december.

This shot was during the middle of cloud passing simulation

One with the moonlight simulation
becact
Looking good. What temp would you say your lights are? When I started out I really liked the super blue look, but now my tastes are kind of changing to a bright white look, like the cloud pic above. It must be nice to be able to change it on a whim with the LEDs smile.gif
Rehype
Thanks B.The level of control with the profilux is really nice. My tank gets a nice sunrise, then from sunrise to noon, the lights increase to maximum intensity. Then the light intensity gradually decreases until sunset. Then throw in cloud probability, storms, and rainy days the color temp is different nearly everytime i look at the tank.
