sweet!

i assume that means you're not worried about pairing a jawfish with your midas blenny.

how deep is your sand bed? from the early thread pics, it looks like about 2-3" or so?

the two are both peaceful so they shoulg get along fine. Although early indications seem that the two will totally ignore each other since they don't occupy the same area of the tank. The sandbed is 2 inches in some areas but mostly 1".

So heres a new vid of the guys at feeding time. Sorry it took so long to upload it..

Awesome video, I really want one of those jawfish now! What tool was that you were using to feed?
JoshG
Awesome fish too! Don't those anthias get pretty big? Does the Midas come and hang out in the tank or hide most of the day?

How is that skimmer working out? PM me what you paid for it if you don't mind tongue.gif

thanks..sunburst are between 2-4 inches. They recommend one per every 25 gallons. The Midas is vey active which is why I bought him. They have alot of personality and enjoy swimming in the water column.

The skimmer works well but I'm working with Robert to tweak the performance since I'm the first one with it.I paid $200 for it.

So i finally got around to ordering the tanks to complete my dosing setup. The only thing left is for my Balling chemicals to come in. I got this idea from xenon(another member on the forum) Im glad i stuck with the signature setup since i was able to use the cabinet space for the additional tanks.

pismo_reefer
can you make me a smoothie with that thing?

Where did you get the Sunburst? I think you might have convinced me to get 1 or 2! Beautiful:)

Let me know on that skimmer, I have the Tunze Nano Skimmer now but would love something a bit more heavy duty.

Hype are you using Chaeto in your back fuge chamber? I have tried for 2 months with two different lights, just can't get any to grow. It doesn't die, just doesn't grow! mad.gif With the overflow running down right on top of it though I get a ton of junk mixed in, wondering if that has anything to do with it.
Rehype
I did try briefly but i took it out. It didnt grow too well in my experience either. I do have some mangroves growing back there but i plan to remove the macroalgae altogether since im going to run a Ultra low nutrient system and macroalgae wont survive too long in that setup.
Rehype
Finally got some pics of Bj.let me know what you think

hurray for BJ!

my wife and i were looking at one today - so hard to pay that much for a fish, but they are so funny. we may end up going with a pearly instead, but who knows.

you haven't added a top to your tank, have you? my LFS was pretty intent on telling us that it was an absolute necessity for the bluespots.

anyway, the pics look great! looking forward to some more videos!

Thanks alot Tim. I do have a canopy on the tank because i have too many potential jumpers. If you do plan on getting one you definitely will need a canopy. I found this jawfish is a bit different as he doesnt hang out in the water column as much. But he just finished building the coolest burrow. Ill be sure to post some vids.

Who needs corals when you have fish like those! Very nice set-up so far!

I got another shot of my dwarf golden moray. Whenever hes hungry hes swims all over the place looking for food. I decided to name him twitch because eels tend to head twitch whenever they smell food in the water.

Paleoreef103
That picture is so sweet. I'm glad you finally got some corals in there. What other corals are you going to get?

...and again - great pics! BJ the II looks good! I hope he has as much personality as BJ.

Thanks paleo. I only have like 2 or 3 frags in there. The plan is to have an sps dominant tank. Im still ironing out the details of running a zeovit system but it should have it started by midweek. It will probably be a few weeks before i will be ready to add any additional frags
DaveFason
Love the eel. I have been looking for one for a bit. Just wondering where did you find it?

They are very peaceful and would get along fine with a pipefish. I just wouldn't suggest keeping them with really small fish because they could possibly become a meal. Although I can't prove that conclusively. Twitch has one of the most peaceful dispositions I have ever seen in a fish. I guess it helps I keep him well fed.

Great tank man, I have mine being sent right now. Have so say, its gonna be modeled after yours. My question is, which vortech powerhead are you running and do you like its flow. I am guessing its a mp20?

Thanks alot. Im running an mp20 and i love the flow pattern it creates. I bought the mp20 over the mp10 just in case i want to upgrade to the mp40 at some point. But the mp20 creates more than enough flow(for now wink.gif )

I've seen a lot of people talking about converting to a "zeo"-system, but i've never seen people talking about the theory/justification behind it. i heard people talking about the switch over to a zeo system itself causing bleaching in SPS, but i hadn't heard anything about people who start with the zeo system.

can you comment and/or point me to a resource (note: my goal is, down the road, a primarily-SPS tank)? TIA.
