Thanks for all your help!!

They are an anemone which can move, but I wouldn't say that they usually move. They could be looking for a better spot (light or flow), or reacting to other coral in your tank. They can reproduce asexually by splitting or pedal laceration.

I have a tank bottom full of ricordeas and none of them have moved in almost a year. Sounds like the ricordea has come unattached from its base and is floating around the tank. All of my ricordea are attched to tiles or rubble. Superglue them!

I've had trouble getting super glue gel to hold them. I put them in a little container with LR ruble in it. In about a week or so they will attach to a rock ,then i glue the rock were I want it to be. I tried rubber bands with no luck.

Don't super glue ricordeas/mushrooms. It's better to use some band/tie until the coral grows on the rock.

They just slime up and the superglue won't stick. The rubble in a container idea works well for me too when they just won't stay tied down smile.gif

It probably doesn't like the spot you picked for it. I did that by accident to a mushroom rock (red with blue spots, pretty) and over a week half the darned shrooms slowly released themselves from the rock and went floating around the tank. >.< I moved the rock to an area with less flow, and the rest are now staying put. I never glue shrooms, I just find a nook or cranny and stuff them into it. tongue.gif

Or you can get a small clear glass, put it in the tank and dump some rubble in the bottom. Then let the shroom attach to the rubble and put it where you want it. biggrin.gif

you have to dry the base with a paper towel, even then they slime off sometimes. The Rubble-Cup trick works well.

Tie it down like a present with string in a + style.
Helfrichs Chick
That's probably why he is moving around you burnt its ass with superglue. I suggest bridal veil or string and needle. I too think its weird that you actually notice him moving around.... I think you should post a pic of said ricordea for ID. I have had LOTS and LOTS of rics in my days and none have ever moved.

I had an orange FL ricordea move about 2" off it's plug. Not moved since, but thanks for my plug back smile.gif

I was going to start a new thread, and ask something similar to what clownmonster asked. I got an orange ricordea a few weeks ago, and it slowly moved from the rubble and substrate it was on, across the sand, and into a little LR cave. I have a cheap current USA T5 fixture, so its not as though they are getting too much light. Its attached to the LR now, and seems to be staying put. Do they like the dark more than bright light?

Moved again, pretty sure its not floating around. It doesnt wave around in the current or anything.

I am a genius! I will put my Yuma where it doesn't liked to be put and it moves and leaves some of the base, forming 1-3 new polyps. Mwahaha.

haha nice, Nemo 1, Nature 0

I wish mine would do that. It just moves.
Lawnman
Flip it over put a small dab of super glue on its foot put a small piece of LR rubble on the glue drop and then glue the sucker to the face of your LR. Been doing it for months and mine couldn't look better.
