Hey everybody im interested in starting a frag tank with the extra 10gal i have laying around that use to be my main take but than i decided to upgrade and move everything into a 20gal long tank. I just wanted some advice and suggestions as to what corals would be good to keep as a first frag tank. I dont want everything dying on me.

Also im currious as to if ill need a sump or anything i plan on getting a HOB filter and replacing some of the media and putting in some floss a carbon filter and then some LR with some algae ( which should i use) i was going to make a nice 3in sand bed with some sand left over from my 20gal and make 3 layers of frag racks with some LR under each rack.

If any of thissounds good or noobish please let me know!! scarry01.gif

THanks for anything!!

I have a 10g frag tank. Link is in my sig. It's doable but you'll want more space before long.

It's definitely doable.
I used to have a 10g Prop/Frag tank with 150w MH fixture, a K1 and a HOB filter.
Here's the old tank thread to it:

A member named nUgZ also had a 10g Frag Tank that I actually think was much better than mine, here's the thread to that one:

Im not using a ten as a display. My girlfriend and i got a 20gal long display and just want to try out a seperate 10gal frag tank. That would work though i think.

A 2.5g or smaller could be a frag tank. All it is is just a tank to pop your frags in & let em grow out a bit. a Shot glass could be a "frag tank" for 3-4 zoas...

10g is fine, but I suggest a 20g long for the frag tank as well if you can do it. Just upgrade now rather than later wink.gif

I just picked up a 30" Current Sundial T5 fixture for my 20g long frag tank, waiting on delivery now. Got it from Marine Depot, and I saw a lot of other options for smaller tanks in their selection.

They're having a sale on the AquaticLife fixtures, but I have no idea of the quality of that brand.

You want to be bad-ass..plumb that frag tank in with your regular setup. ALthough to do this is probably a pain..you would have a much more stable setup and will only need to do maintenance really on one tank smile.gif

Plus easier to make sure all the parameters stay stable and your 20 might be more stable itself with the extra 10 gallons. Otherwise I think the 10 should be fine with the right care..

lol dont think ill go that far. But we just got the egg crate today and will probably be cutting/fitting it tomorrow and seeing how snug it is.
