Chances are if you’re reading this you’ve not used an aquarium controller before but you’re thinking about it. You may know someone that has one or done some reading, but never took the plunge and there are a number of reasons for that… What we’d like to do is here is dispel a few of the biggest controller myths that may be weighing on your mind.

Myths:
1) Controllers are expensive – Not anymore… You can now get an entry level controller for under $100. The ReefKeeper Lite (L1) package is the perfect starting controller with plenty of room to grow while still having the power to manage some pretty impressive features!

2) Controllers are complicated to use – Digital Aquatics has worked hard to combine power and ease of use in our controllers. With our easy to use menu system you can get quick access to alarms, timers, programming channels, and monitoring probes, without any complicated programming experience!

3) Controllers are only for big tanks – While it’s true a controller can make running a big tank much easier, it can also greatly impact the safety for a small tank that can quickly be affected by such things as quick swings in temperature. A controller can take intelligent action to avoid problems before they become catastrophic, for tanks of any size!

The ReefKeeper Lite (L1) package comes with the ReefKeeper Lite head unit, the RKM-PC4 (with four uniquely programmable outlets,) and a temperature probe. With this basic setup you can monitor and control temperature, with heaters, chillers or fans. You’re able to control your lighting and set up a safety cut off for over temp conditions that will shut your lighting down if your tank gets to hot. You can run dosing pumps, wavemakers, return pumps and skimmers. The ReefKeeper Lite also allows you to use the standby mode for feedings or service. It will shut down the pumps you select and hold them off, allowing the tank to calm while you target feed coral or do a water change.

But that’s not the only thing to think about; how about support and service? Digital Aquatics operates the most active support forum in the industry with a huge customer base, as well as email and phone support. Our systems and modules also carry a comprehensive 1 year warranty and we have a generous replacement program for non-warranty damage! It all adds up to the piece of mind that a controller should offer!

Does all this seem overwhelming? One great part of the system is you don’t have to do it all right away. The ReefKeeper Lite is designed to let you start slow or fast, whatever you’re comfortable with!

We at Digital Aquatics believe this kind product and serviced shouldn’t have to cost an arm and leg! As hobbyist ourselves we’ve worked hard to build a controller that’s a balance of features and cost! We don’t just design these controllers, we all use them out our tanks also!
