Here is my "Complete Idiot's Guide to Building an LED Array".

18 CREE XR-E (10 royal blue, 8 cool white) with 2 x Meanwell ELN 70-48D with dimmers.

This is over my 20g long AIO Peninsula tank.

Sunstar
I think I can add mine now.

2 Gallon Pico LED array.
and that belongs to my \Nemesis Nano 2 Gallon Tank

Breif Overview: This tank is for a contest on a different site. Project is DIY intensive. That thread covers most of the Pics of both tank cabinet build and lamp build.

This is my concept.

Mess of wires and project box

View of the Project Box before I added goodies

After I added goodies, boy was it crampped

Epic Fan Overkill. I will try to sneak stealths in at a later date.

OoooooH shiney!

Craptacular pic, but you can basically get the gist of it. The hood was originally designed to take 3 CPF screw in bulbs. They did okay but they were not very nice.

How it originally looked. (before I put the silver sticker reflector thing in.

Thanks Evil for your help and advice.

Old pico LED unit I made using a graphics card heatsink with a built in fan. It had 2 CW and 2 RB Cree XR-E's.

I had a dimmable buckpuck for both colors.

Tank is 48x24x16. There are 42x neutral white and 42x royal blue LEDs mounted on 2x 8.5x40 heatsinks using 40deg optics. The LEDs are hanging about 16inches off the water.

If you have room for a saltless marine "amazonian reef", then here we go.

2 tanks: 45g cube, and an 11g rimless (36" long).

Warning, this is nuts, and totally experimental, and overkill, but actually looks spectacular in the end.

Build thread. Unit has digital ammeters in a custom, movable swing-arm canopy for tank access.
http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/tank-jou...less-glass.html

All LEDs on (45g, 23" cube planted fw tank). 3 Meanwell ELN60-48 dimmable drivers.

String ONE-- 8 XPG neutral white, 2 Bridgelux 402 cool white.
String TWO-- 12 XRE royal blue (missed one of them when soldering, whoops).
String THREE (dawn/dusk cycle)-- 1 20w Satistronics 15,000K white, 4 XPG cool white, 2 XPE red, 4 Rebel cyan.

Whites-- 500mA....... Blues, 150mA......... Dawn/Dusk, 190mA

11g rimless tank for red cherry shrimp and dwarf cory cats.

4 royal blue XPE, 3 warm white XPG, 3 neutral white XPG, 3 cool white XPG. 500mA current, no optics, 4" from water surface in custom light hood.

Amazingly, no visible spotlighting even spread out over a 35" length.

Meanwell ELN60-48 dimmable.

Here is my latest build, sorry I don't have a build thread for it.

This build has:
6 Cree XP-E RB
5 Cree XP-G CW
2 RapidLED moonlights
2 1000mA dimmable buckpucks w/pot
1 350mA dimmable buckpuck w/pot

I used a small project box to hold the buckpucks and power plugs. Each of the colors is on its own power supply and dims seperately. I got a heatsink/fixture from nanotuners.com, drilled a hole in the back to run the wires through, and drilled some holes in the top so I could hang the fixture above the tank. This is hanging over my 3 pico maxi mini anemone tank. these pics are old and I had just finished my cycle, but they are the only ones I have that show the light above the tank. I hope you all like it.

Custom GU10 Ebay LED hood/hanger for 28g JBJ nanocube

pretty much done with the custom build I am doing for a club members 28g nanocube. It will house a total of 16 of the ebay gu10 leds (http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=267432)

he has the stand with the metal risers so there is a dead space the cross on the bottom of the arm will slide into to counter lever and lock it into place.

All i need now is the fans to show up so i can mount them on the rear and the led strips to use as moon lights. This has been a fun project.

The metal arm is a TV wall mount stand arm inverted. The kind of thing that mounts an old crt tv to the wall.

i made a build thread now that the gu10 LED hood is completed

Inspired by the Aqua Illuminations (AI) Sol Blue modules. I decided to build my own retrofit into my existing Red Sea Max 250 hood.

Specs:
48 3 Watt Cree LED's

Wiring and layout specs complete. I will be building 2 of these 16 x 6 (24 LED) modules.

Used connector bolts attached with epoxy to create the mounting hardware.

LED's attached (Thermal Adhesive)

All wired up. Lit them up to test and damn these are bright!

Was able to fit the 4 Meanwell drivers in the hood and retain the stock LED moon lights.

Installed the dimmer potentiometers under the timer lid (1 controls white, 1 controls blue). I really like the ability to mix the colors as well as slowly acclimate the tank.

Shot of the hood without optics for now as I still have a few things to clean up but needed to get some light on my corals that have been deprived for 3 days

Hi yall

I think this is my first post on the forum...

Afte reading the extensive LED thread I became really inspired and decived to give it a go at building my own spots, since I have little knowledge of drivers and controller and what not...

This is basically a rip-off of Tinys pendant build tongue.gif
I glued together a plexiglass box, drilled some holes in a sheet to mount the sockets, which then will hang on the inside of the box, held in place (partially by bad measurments and) by bolts which also holds hoops on the roof for hanging.

I'm not sure about the temp on the whites. Ive sent a query to the seller. But if anyone here can tell is these are cool whites or not, I would appreciate it.

I only have 10 sockets at the time, but am waiting for some more to arrive. A total of 12 white and 12 blues for my 70x35 cm footprint tank (about 22 gallons i think). But I drilled for a total of 50 sockets, so I will probably fill those out during the near future.

Thanks for you attention.
