I have the Sigma 105, and it's excellent. I traded the Canon 50/2.5 Macro for it. Future compatibility issues are the issue with non-Canon lenses, though. Did you take a look at KEH? I've consistently been happy with 7-8 purchases through them.

I'll shoot one of those snails, sometime: they are on the glass frequently, maybe too frequently for there to be only a handful?
corallineadam
HAHA! yes they are very very active snails! tongue.gif
if you dont mind, please write a review of them here and clicking on the WRITE A REVIEW BUTTON at the bottom of the page
thx!

it seems like when theres something to look forward to the day drags by even slower laugh.gif
opy01
yea, not to mention I have to work after work lol. I set an IP address on a computer to match the rest on the network and now it cant access shared files? That makes no sense! You would think it wouldn't work before I made the change. So much for going right home and packing lol.
corallineadam
ahh the life of an IT guy...
everyone bugs me for everything all the time! and when ever anything goes wrong its either MY fault, or the servers
they love to blame everything on our new server
if the coffee is cold, the server did it! laugh.gif
and they want me to clean up the server always (file management), like im their mommy tidying up their bedroom! tongue.gif
opy01
I love the guys that say "the server is running slow, can you reboot it please?". Like I am going to reboot the server and kick everyone off because he was surfing myspace and got spyware.
corallineadam
HAHA!!!!!
yeah i love that too!
corallineadam
corallineadam

haha i was just kidding tongue.gif yea the cam is nice and the lens is nicer! i had problems with the 20d and my sigma 28-80mm macro, it kept giving me err99 and freezing the camera. now that i have a canon lens on there havent seen err99 once! KNOCK ON WOOD...

Very awesome wrasse!!

thanks! what kinda wrasse is it though?! biggrin.gif still cant figure it out...
majtek862
Yeah, that's a pretty common problem. In fact, I borrowed a sigma telephoto and it did exactly the same thing on my 30D. I've never seen that error with a canon lens and I've shot close to 15,000 shots. I think you'll be fine.
corallineadam
yeaH but I loved that sigma 28-80mm macro
majtek862
I agree, sigma makes some good lenses. They just don't mesh well with the Canon digital bodies. It was never an issue with my AE-1 film body.

same with my eos650 35mm it works great!
i heard that if i send the lens in to sigma they will rechip it and it will work with the newer canon bodies
i may end up doing that... let you know how it goes if i do it...
ryeguy28
multi color pensil wrasse ???

I guess your pictures look OK if your in to beautiful colors and pretty fish. I personally like my corals covered in algae and my fish with parasites. biggrin.gif

I thought the deep water zoas melted under intense lighting. Is it doing alright so far?

And how often do you have to supplement your calcium?

Kamao
Tank looks good, but doesnt that fish require a much bigger tank?
corallineadam
yeah hes gona make the move to my 29g eventually for now i think its suitable, but yes in the near future a larger tank would be ideal
pismo_reefer

Have fun gettin him out... rolleyes.gif

j/k, but i dont think it'll be fun.
corallineadam
yeah its gona be a lil bit of a pain
but maybe not lol
when i feed he comes right up to the top
and i have scooped him up in my palm before... biggrin.gif
dont u love it when ur fish get so friendly they go in your hand lol like clowns are always down
and even my 6line is pretty much my buddy to the point he eats out of my hand and will probably hop in my palm if i wanted laugh.gif

truthfully he may stay in there for a bit i think hes pretty happy in there its PACKED with rocks and hiding spots which seems to be his thing
he comes out when the lights are off to pick at the rocks and swim in the current a bit

a week or 2 after i got him i was checking out the tank just peeking around at the corals (thank god i was there to witness this!) and the wrasse jumped out of the water (from the little 1" space behind the tank's lid) onto the top of the lid and flapped around up there until i could get his ass back in the water!!! what a freekin nut!
i think i spooked him when i peeked in the tank but literally i was a good 18" from the glass LOL!!!!
poor guy
well he hid for a week after that but now hes out everyday and doing his thing a very friendly fish smile.gif
pismo_reefer
sweet!

He looks really happy in there.
whatevs...my clowns are not as freindly as yours seem to be, laugh.gif

but the food, then scoop method has always worked best for me.
*screw bottletraps.

yeah and with patience its possible to catch any fish!!
like my bicolor pseudochromis situation that i never wrote about...
any way i wanted a royal gramma and for some reason at the lfs they sold me the bicolor as the RG... LOL!!!!!! they are a good lfs but some of the employees are a little confused at times :/
anyway this guy RULED the tank to the point of killing 2 blue chromis and my clown sad.gif
and i COULDNOT for the life of me get his delinquent butt out of the tank laugh.gif
well one day about 3 weeks ago, i was mixing water for a routine water change and had a bucket of water mixing on the floor next to the 10g. the LID was ON the 10g!
and i was running around the house doing chores and after an hour or two go check on the tank and notice that the bicolor is nowhere in sight. well i look in the bucket of mixing water and lo and behold the bastard jumped! JUMPED! from the 10g to the bucket! and the bucket was a little offset from the tank!!!
sheer luck? or is the little guy an acrobat?!?!?!
anyway now hes in the 10g frag tank and he has it all to himself, excluding a bunch of lps and zoa frags, some snails, and a couple bluelegged mini hermit crabs smile.gif

actually that tank is next to my computer desk on the ground and im looking down at it and the litle guy is out in the open right now even though the lights are off and its his "middle of the night" laugh.gif
really cool fish but only get one if you plan to keep it as a species tank... mabe its just mine but this guy is MEAN!!!
pismo_reefer
thats CRAZY.....

I wouldnt be able to believe had I not seen it b4.
Damn near the same situation happened with an Albino Oscar & me.

Lil bastage jumped straight outta the 55g fw tank, and into a 5g bucket.
Fish are nutz. laugh.gif
