hopefully some will escape their crabby claws!

but you have eggs in your office tank??
my lil bro is 16 and he loved watching the embryos in the eggsacks as they matured -- we used a photographers loupe (8 or 10x i believe) and it really allowed us to see them in fairly good detail...

thanks! and yes that is my style, i like to pack many corals into my tanks! i currently am running this style on all 4 of my nanos -- packed with coral, lots of feedings in small amounts, and no skimming with a strong ecological cleanup such as macro algae, breeding inverts (whose populations can adjust to the available food supply), and a to of light and flow.

thx man! yea its crowded for sure though, i need to space some of these corals out and take some more cuttings... there are spots where zoas are crowding my sps and where the softies are shading out other corals... it just takes a lot more maintantence and some intervention (spreading people out a lil, moving them, or just slightly readjusting them to allow space/light for others) than a less crowded tank
i have to check my tank like 3 or 4 times a day to make sure no one fell onto anyone else...

oh i know i can! its just a matter of time...
there are zoa colonies growing behind the rock work that i can barely even see (not due to lack of light, but due to lack of viewability) but they are thriving!
i can def add some more corals though...

I think I saw a baby conch in my home tank. If so then at least one made it past the crabby claws lol. I put 6 in my tank at home to begin with and now I have 7

.
I never saw any at work though. I thought those were eggs in the corner but they still look the same. Maybe its too cool at work. The tank stays between 75-77 all the time.

I don't think that cold is the problem my tanks dive down pretty low at night sometimes... I be it's the light they don like to lay in bright spots mostly in dark areas like glass corners or under rocks or in sumps

it's truely amazing how fat Hess little guys reproduce though! Tol u it wuldnt be more than a few weeks!

I wonder how many I am not seeing at home lol. At work though there aren't that many dark places. My red mythrix crab rules the only good cave lol. Of course I am now dealing with stupid GHA again due to overfeeding Phyto Feast. I figured since I was only there 3-4 days a week I would just double up... huge mistake. Now I am trying to get it under control again.

Ah yeah it sucks! I am doing just that lol
started my 10g frag tank (see my sig), gona get a frag from a lfs, Gona take a road trip to a distant lfs I've heard of but never been to and get some sps frags (they're expecting me and have acros and montis waiting

), Im getting some snails in the mail too today (thx reefcleaners!), and I mite get a hammer coral to frag out
plus I called my fav closeby lfs and they can get me a new radiant in a month tops

so I'm still sad but all will be well
plus I'm meeting with the pres of our local reef club and he has a
bunch of ORA sps fraga ready for me to come pick up this weekend!

but its recovering!!

and here is a pic with ALOT going on in it -- it has the fragged tyree leather (stump looking thing

thx opy! i almost got the rebel but i think im going to hold out for a little while. i checked out the canon 100mm and its a nice lens! but i think the sigma 105 is comparable and only 2/3 the cost...
they offered me a deal on the rebel xs and the 100mm canon macro for $1000 but i had to pass, cant fork over that kinda doh at the moment. maybe soon though...

Nov 30 2009, 12:30 PM
The Sigma, Tamron and Quantary lenses are alot cheaper but the glass is not near the quality. I did a side by side comparison with a Canon 35-200mm and the Tamron 35-200mm and the canon one focused alot faster and the color was alot better. The glass in the Canon lenses let in more light and some of the others are somewhat clowdy IMO. The Sigmas are the same way too. I am not saying the lenses suck but as much as I use mine I can tell a difference and would rather save up a little more and buy the Canon brand. Well when I get back and buy those frags from you that will get you that much closer to spending the $$$$$$$$$

.
