Digital Aquatics
Digital Aquatics is excited to announce, first on Nano-Reef, that we will be running a summer, economic stimulus, promotion on our RKL (L1) package!

Currently, the RKL (L1) retails for $149 and comes with four outlets a temp probe and a head unit. The RKL can be expanded to interface with up to four modules (16 outlets,) and can monitor multiple pH probes, temp probes and will soon be able to monitor and control salinity! It's the perfect controller for a nano tank! Not to mention, when and if you want, the RKL can quickly be upgraded to an RKE while you completely retain your initial investment!

The RKL has only been out for about 4 1/2 months and already has a bigger following than most other controllers! We've recently been able to secure a much larger volumes of parts as our vendors are looking to reduce their inventories; we're going to pass this on to you!

Starting in about 1-2 weeks the RKL (L1) package will go on sale for $99.99!

Check out our website for more info about this little giant of a controller. We'll also post there when the promotion starts.

Thank you again,
DA
supernip
nice! will you be doing anything with the other rkl packages? I know quite a few people interested in the 3rd package personally
skh
Great deal! Might just have to pick one up.
Digital Aquatics
This deal does only apply to the L1 package but if you price it out, the L3 is still a savings over the L1 if you tried to build it up from that. We've worked hard to keep pricing low and this was another opertunity we had to pass on some savings to our customers!

Keep in mind the update to the RKL firmware that's coming that will allow for all modules (except the NET,) that includes slainity, the SW5 and the other modules that are schduled for release in the coming year. Also, myReef will be able to interact with the RKL and that will have some COOL features. And our software is always free for the full version! wink.gif

Sounds nice. Thanks for posting this. Any chance there's something coming that has an embedded http server? It would be really nice to be able to control everything through a browser interface.

The RKE can interface with our RKM-NET. The NET does not currently allow for control only email/txt reporting and RSS feeds. But that's another system altogether.

The $99.99 controller is not capable of interfacing with the internet. It's intended to be an entry level controller, and it's quite powerful for its price!

Thanks,

Oh damnit I just ordered rkl(1) on the 29th and missed this post slap.gif. Will you honor your deal for me, or will I have to return the one that is on its way and reorder it? I am already in trouble with my fiancé, this could smooth things over wink.gif

Thanks,
Matt

Do you guys ship to or have any dealers in Canada?
I am very interested in one of these units, possibly even two!!
Mini_GBR
I just want to give DA some bigggg positive feedback. I have the original RK 1 from back in the day, still working great, and still amazing. From what I understand about this unit, it does more (after you add the extra 4 plug inputs) than what i have, and for that price, everyone should get one. What a great deal.
Digital Aquatics
Thank you! We love to hear stories of the good old RK1. smile.gif

So after spending 2 hrs reading on the DA website, including their forum, I'm still a bit confused.

If I had the RKL and wanted to use a pH probe, do I need an RKM-SL1 as well?!? And later if I decide I want to probe for salinity, I'd need the SL2?

What CAN I connect up to the RKL1?

Likewise, on the AC outlets, are they individually controllable or just in the block of 4?

FLIPbmw
Can you use an uninterupted power supply along with the reefkeeper?

OK, I'll try and catch all the question in one post. If I miss one let me know! smile.gif

Q) Do you guys ship to or have any dealers in Canada?
A) Yes we ship to Canada, we ship via USPS only. Our dealer network in Canada is growing though some new avenues but that's a work in progress.

Q) If I had the RKL and wanted to use a pH probe, do I need an RKM-SL1 as well?!? And later if I decide I want to probe for salinity, I'd need the SL2?
A) I would wait for the RKM-SL2. It had inputs for both pH AND salinity. That way you would only need one add on module! Big plus!

Q) What CAN I connect up to the RKL1?
A) There are two answers here, 1) The outlets, that list is endless! Pumps, lighting, heater, chiller, anything you want to control! 2) The modules on the bus. Shortly, with the new firmware come shortly, you'll be able to connect any module except the NET module to the RKL.

Q) Likewise, on the AC outlets, are they individually controllable or just in the block of 4?
A) Each outlet on the PC4 can be programmed to ANY function the unit offers and in completely unique configurations! It's completely flexible!!!

Q) Can you use an uninterupted power supply along with the reefkeeper?
A) If you're talking about a UPS, you can, BUT if you have a large total power draw then it wont last very long.

Ok, I think I got them all... If you have any more or need some clarification just let us know!

SOLD! As soon as it goes on sale I am ordering one. Is there any plans on getting the NET function? It is Q2, is the SL2 going to be out soon?

Although the DIY controller looks fun and is tempting, I am fooling myself thinking I would ever get it completed even if I did get it working lol. This is just too good of a deal to pass up. (and my wife approved lol)

The NET wont interface with this controller.
The RKM-SL2 should be order-able by the end of Q2. (It will work with the RKL once the firmware update is released. That's due out soon also!)

does it allow for control to trigger chiller when max temp is reached?
Digital Aquatics
Absolutely, the only issue is how big. Two of the channels on the RKM-PC4 are rated at 8 amps. That's where your limitation will be. But the unit can control a chiller, heater, lights, and so much more!

More RKL info!

So I would pay $100 for a thermometer and 4 outlets?
au01st
A thermometer/controller/timer? Yes. I was planning to order another PC-4 for my RKL on my 75 anyways, so for another $20 I'll get another head unit for use on my 10G down the road.

You trust your heater's internal thermostat that much? This is cheaper than a dual stage Ranco controller and can do so much more.

It comes with everything you need to monitor and control based on time and temperature.

1 x Head unit (the brain)
1 x RKM-PC4 (4 uniquely programable outlets)
1 x Temperature probe
4 x mounting screws
1 x USB interface device for your computer
1 x USB cable
1 x printed manual

We've tried to include everything you'd need to get started!

What you add to your system is up to you... pH, salinity, more temp probes, float switches, ORP, Lunar light simulation, advanced lighting control (LEDs, dimmable T5s)...

You can completely make this system whatever you want it to be!

Note: a few of the options I listed require the firmware that we're releasing sometime around the end of the month to watch up with the release of the SL2.

Hope that answers your question!

Would you be able to give me an estimate on shipping costs to H9B 2K9 (Canada)
as well as to San Diego California 92101.

I'm going on vacation so I am not sure if I should order it from here or have it shipped to my uncles place for pickup later.

can we get a shipping coupon is the better question??? wink.gif

i guess waiting for worth the wait. i was looking at the RKE and RKL. and this is going to be a sweet deal. Whats include basic only! i know you can upgraded later. i don't really need the net for now just something to start up and keep it stable for my new tank. thanks - dave

just bought one...Awesome deal.
opy01
I just ordered one! How long are these on sale for? I may buy a second one for the PC4 alone and have a spare head and temp sensor for an extra $10.

#1 This is worth it for the digital thermometer and timer function alone. You can use it as a thermostat also and not have to worry about the crappy dial on you in tank heater.

#2 A timed power strip is about $40 and only has a day night cycle that's on or off. This has 4 individualy programble plugs that can be used for multiple things. My fuge is on a different lighting cycle than my DT and I would have had to buy 2 $40 timed power strips to run them. Right now I am turning the fuge light on manually (big pain). So in reality I am only spending $20 because I needed 2 more timed powerstrips anyways, now I can just use the one I replace with this for my reptiles lol.

I already have a RKE but I do need a RKL for my tank in a different room. My question is

whats the difference between a RKM-PC1 and a Expansion Socket. Visually they look the same. Please explain

The PC1 is controlled on the bus. The ES is controlled by a channel on the PC4. The PC1 wont take up a channel to control. Also the PC1 has 3 virtual channels that you can access. This will be nice for advanced programming. The PC1 was announced a couple months ago and should be orderable in about 30-60 days.

Hope that helped.

clear as MUD smile.gif so what do you mean that the ES is controlled by a channel on the PC4 does that mean it plugs in to the PC4 like a power accessory would ? or

Looks like a good deal. I'm interested in a browser interface as will. Will monitor. Thanks!

0.1 degrees, and yes it can be calibrated!

That is correct... The ES plugs in to a channel like any other device. THe channel drives the ES and switches it's load. The ES is powered by your wall outlet relieving the switching device (in this case the PC4) of the main load. The one downer is that it does take up a channel... So you got it!

Was that better? If not why don't you start another tread and I'll try again smile.gif That way we can keep this thread on topic...

They follow the lunar cycle if you set them to "Lunar" in the function.
