Can anyone recommend a decent video editing program? It has to handle HD video, .mov files. Nothing too fancy is needed. Just editing for youtube product demonstration videos.
CyberLink PowerDirector 2009 has a good review

What software did you decide to go with?
Thinkin about picking this camera up as well, especially if its a basically free upgrade from my xti.

here is the input i can offer.
if you are getting this for the HD video mode this is the better of the two options on the market (as it does record in 1080P and will autofocus while filming where as the D90 does not which really sucks)
but when compared to HD camcorders it is just not up to par as the video quality just isnt there when compared

kind of... but you have to hold down a focus button. It is better to do it manually from what I found out so far. This is a camera and not a video recorder.
Nope you can hear the motor run the AF if you push the button and are recording sound. Probably pretty loud on the playback but so far I haven't needed sound with any recordings.

what i have been doing, which has worked very well for me, is taking pictures via my computer with canon software. Definitely not as portable or convenient, but very neat nonetheless. Has its pluses also, automatically view and transfer to the computer. Unfortunately, I have not been able to use mirror lock and remotely shoot via computer simultaneously.

For most of these pictures no. I picked up a 55-250mm IS lens right before that weekend trip. So much better than the kit lens.

Just sold my xti this morning, picked up a t1i few minutes ago.

Cheap upgrade, bought the T1i used for 675$, with 603 actuations. Pretty much brand new. Sold the xti for 560$. If I can sell the kit lens from this t1i for 100-120$ its basically a free upgrade

Was going to purchase a 50d, but changed my mind last minute.
So far...
Screen is gorgeous, bigger than xti, and the resolution looks great. Camera is super light, but that might be because I haven't thrown on the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. Haven't had a chance to mess with the video mode yet, but looking forward to that also.

Hey Stevie did you take all of those pictures with the 18-55 lens? I just got the same camera
StevieT
Aug 20 2009, 07:16 PM
Cool. No, I took most of them with my 55-250mm. I purchased it a week after getting the camera and after I realized the limitation so the stock lens. Plus I was going on vacation.

You got my hopes up lol. I guess I will get good with the stock lens until I get more money. Those shots are amazing by the way

Just snapped these a few seconds ago. I don't know what to do and have never shot a rainbow before.

Double!
Looks like on the last one I could have left the tree in focus, the rainbow is so blurry that there is nothing for it to focus on.

yep, 3200. Only way I could get any decent shot. I had about half a second to grab them as we were walking out. No tripod and fam wanted to GTF out. Used P mode and just set the ISO super high.
