Hey guys,
Im starting to notice that there are allot of us that are infatuated with our mini-monster fish. Frogfish, anglers, waspfish, scorpions, lionfish and what not. I have yet to see a real thread to show off our mini-monsters so Lets See Them....
And of course I will get the pictures of my Wartskin Frogfish up tonight!!

I'd like to see some as well. Though, I fear there won't be many on this forum as those mini-monsters aren't good reef tank inhabitants and are better suited to FOWLR setups.

40G.
They are extremely sedentary. They get large, but need very little real estate.
The important thing with them is that you have a solid skimmer. They are very messy fish and eat and #### a lot. As long as you have a well oversized skimmer and are on top of water changes, you can keep on in a 40.

What a great thread...I don't really know much about these fish, but you've got my attention now

Anyway people could post species/names and tank size with their pictures?
Will the angler in the 3 gallon have to be moved to a larger tank later?
Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm thinking of setting up an angler tank myself, was wondering if anyone could direct me to some reading material to make sure I don't in any way take poor care of the thing. Has anyone tried a pair of frogfish ?

This guy just has an ugly mug and looks like he always wants to bum a smoke.

These are a few anglers I found here floating in some sargassm seaweed during a surf. They are not as cool as the rest on here but they were free.

This one was eaten by the bigger one.

Anyone know where to get one of those cool little dwarf scorpionfish that are yellow with pink sploches? I'll try to find a scientific name right now.

ive been researching these angler/frogfish for awhile and realized they are hard to find solid info on. I have a 10 gallon and was wondering if there was any chance of keeping one in there with pleanty of live rock? Anybody know what the smallest frogfish is available? Sorry about all the questions, I just think they are one of the most interesting fish available.
Thank you,
Jim

He wasn't much of a monster

He used to eat hermits, leave their claws and heads floating around but left the corals alone.

Sorry for my absence guys. Thanks for keeping my thread allive!
On a sad note, a few months back our house was damaged by a rash of Tornadoes. I kept the temp in the tank up, and the water circulated while the power was off for 3 days.....But when the power came back on, there was a problem! Our house suffered a direct hit by lightning, and once the power came back on my tank was electrified. I had no clue, I put my hand in the tank to move some stuff arround and ZAP. All the fish, including my prized Mr. Grumpy was killed(and nearly myself). I was in such disgust that I tore the 29g down, and replaced it with a 58g that I built. Now Im back with the old, boring normal fish. No minimonsters for me at the moment.
But lets all learn from my stupid mistake.....Buy a good surge protector for the tank(one that has a warranty), and ALLWAYS have a GFI outlet for the tank.

What's the deal with these predator fish and a small nano like 10-20 gallon? Are there any that would be suitable? It sounds like they do better with LPS or leathery corals. Not everyone posted their tank size with their pics but is a 10g too small for this type of fish?
