I noticed you stated you place the media rack in Chamber 1. May I ask what you include in that rack? Also, what do you currently have in chamber 2?

I have a bag of chemIpure Elite, Purigen, with floss on top, middle chamber are where the heater and Rails for the Tunze ato are...
RobDMB
Thanks for the reply. I'll have to see if I can make a similar media rack. I guess you could also put some chaeto in chamber 2 additionally if you wanted correct?

I really like it... I had a Nanocube before this one and there is no comparing the two... No heat issues is what I like about it, that and it's a Rimless beauty!

I'm planning on getting another one for frags... You cant go wrong with a CAD wink.gif
reeftankguy
Latest FTS... Getting ready to ad a Tear Drop Clam and a Rainbow Acan... They ship Monday...

Looks great. Love the aquascaping.

Great looking tank!

Just curious... did you add any lights for moonlight/nighttime?

No I don't need them... RB's on 1 hr before CW's, RB's still on 1 hr after CW's go out... Dawn to dusk effect is in play...
reeftankguy
Latest FTS... Not much but this is what it looks like when I run the LEDS at 50% CW, 30% RB...

This tank is 6 months old... I have added the live stock at a slow pace and have never had 1 problem,
No GHA, Cyno Etc etc... I use only distilled water and do 4 gallon WC every week...

reeftankguy
The newest addition to my CAD 12G... 2" Gold Teardrop Maxima... It opened up right away... Pic is after acclimation and being in the tank 20 minutes... This pic doesnt do this beauty any justice!

I give "Pacific East Aquaculture" 2 thumbs up for Quality, Packing and Shipping, Healthy arrival and overall great customer service!

This is their (PEA) WYSIWYG Pic...
opy01
WOW! That is one awesome looking clam! If that pic doesnt do it justice then I would love to see a more accurate one lol. I love the pattern.
reeftankguy
Thanks Opy... The pic sucked becuase I just have a Kodak Z740...

I have been following your tank thread and think it is great also... wink.gif Keep up the good work~

opy01
Thanks! I was tempted to get a clam but I was too scared. Now I dont have any room lol. Now you guys are making me want to start another tank lol.

I placed her on the live rock mid way and she moved down to the sand bed... LED's are to strong maybe!

The clam 'up-n-moved'? Maybe rolled down...

Beautiful pattern on that clam. Hope it doesn't grow too fast on you or it'll need a bigger tank soon smile.gif

I dont think so... It attached to the rock the second day... When I got back home Monday it was on the sand bed... I guess it could have said " I'm moving " and tumbled down... It's attached to something in the sand bed now cause I tried to move it and it is snug...

As for a bigger tank...I already have one... Oceanic 55 gal, 10gal Sump, Skimmer (Just needs a DYI LED System and a MP40)... It was my FOWLR 10 years ago... When I get settled I plan on setting it back up...
zemuss
It could be attached to the glass now.

It was attached to some of the LR rubble I put down before the sand when I first set up the tank...

I was able to dig it out (Clam and rock) and placed it back where I wanted it... It hasnt moved since and
is doing great under the LED's biggrin.gif

Just read through your thread (and the Ultimate LED guide)... Lots of good info. Tank looks wonderful!

If my stock lighting setup ever breaks (brittle cadlights legs) or if I want more output, I'm definitely going this route.

Reeftankguy,
I love the tank! rock work and LED lighting is fantastic!

I noticed you have an MP10, what percentage do you think you have it set at and what mode do you use?
I have an MP10 in my CAD 12 and i think its set at about 35% right now with reef crest. I used to have it at around 50% but i just put a ric in and he didnt seem very happy with all the flow.

again great setup!

Thanks for the applause baylisc!

I run my MP10 - "Short Pulse Mode" @ 60% / 40%

Just an FYI... When I first started in this mode the sand was everywhere... Left it running and let it move the sand till it calmed down by its self, thus giving the sand bed the look it has now (a gradual incline from left to right (.5" left up to 3" on the right) as you can see in my last FTS...

Thanks again!

Reeftankguy - awesome tank! You've done a really nice job, I really like it.

Do you feel like the gaps for the glass top provide adequate gas exchange with the top on the tank?

Do you see much condensation on the bottom side of the glass?

I'm thinking about starting one of these tanks and I don't want any fish jumping out of the tank, but I'm somewhat concerned about those two issues. Interested to hear your thoughts...

Thanks for the compliments ClearBlue!

The condensation is minimal and the LED Fixture keeps the lid dry, and as far as gas exchange I'm sure there is enough going on... The glass lid sits on the rails (all 4 corners) and provides a 3/8" gap all the way around the top rim of the tank... The MP10 creates enough surface agitation to provide adequate gas exchange i'm sure...

Thanks!

Well... At first yes... I had them dialed down... Now they are running at MAX output and I have gotten used to the look... Now when I dial them down the tank just doesnt look right...

Just a quick FTS...

Take notice that since adding LED's, Switching to Ocean Pro Mag+ salt mixed with Distilled H2O
and adding a MP10 that I have never had any problem algaes or Nitrates...

The clam looks bleached out in the pic but it isnt...
He does react to the flash which is why its closed up a little..

I keep looking for the acan but I can't find it... huh.gif

I have LEDs, use H2Ocean and have an mp10 and I too have no nitrates or algae issues.

What are you doing to get photos that don't look funny?

That deal fell through, it was a WYSIWYG on a website, and it let me place the order and later on they came back in an email and appolgised and said it was already sold rolleyes.gif Offered another one instead, I told them I didnt want the other one, I wanted that one!

Hmmm... There is live stock in there some where... 2 Zoa colonies, 3 (2-5 polyp) zoa frags, GTD Clam, over 10 red and white baby feather dusters, 2 small emeralds, 2 hermits, over 30 various snails, Bi-Color Blenny, Black Osc. Clown and more pod's than I care to have...

But unlike everyone else on here I see with problems who add to much to soon... I add very slowly... I have never had any nuisance algae’s, crashes etc… In a year it will be a garden of corals...

For "The" perfect "Reef" I am very patient! wink.gif

Just had to chuckle at this one...

Taking it slow stocking the tank is the way to go, so a big 'thumbs up' on your patience. We are all trying to keep a mini-eco system stable and adding too much livestock all at once can result in a world of hurt.

I'm a big fan of getting small frags for small systems and letting the corals grow in naturally to suit the space.
reeftankguy
Thanks for the thumbs up NS... Your tank is a testament to what you just said smile.gif

Cool that your close by then... Maybe we can meet up some time, would like to see your LED build in person...

Here are pics of the tank in its new home. New stand and I tried to get my scape back to the way it was...

And this is "Dozer" If he didnt keep my sand bed turned over really good he would be history because he knock over rock and Frags...

Great to see the little fella found a good home smile.gif

How's that enormous hermit crab working out for you? I used to have the Hawaiian 'Holloween' hermits and they were so active that they'd knock frags off the rocks.

Nice clams. How are they doing under the LEDs?
