I would like to get a new DIY articles section added to the site library in the near future, and I'm looking for writers! We have a great group of builders here, I know we can get some great projects and tutorials made.
Many of you have already written great project threads here in this forum, I would love to see them published as articles. In addition to project articles, I'm looking for people interested in writing beginner articles covering topics such as 'How to work with acrylics', 'Aquarium Plumbing 101', etc. All articles would need to include photo guides.
If you're interested please contact me by PM! Post here if you have any other ideas for the DIY section!

Great idea. I also think expanding the coral database would be a great idea that could really help beginners.

No doubt! We're working on getting more profiles added, but could always use more writers for all the library sections.

Can I edit an article? I would like to edit the one for firefish, which I'm 90% sure I wrote a long time ago.

I would like to take part in this if I can.
I have a AC110 fuge mod in my signature.
Also, if requested I can do a write up/photo of several things.

Your Aquaclear mod would be a great article! What else do you have in mind?

Anything really. I can do requests if it is something I can use or ship to a fellow nano-reefer that they can use no problem. I got a new camera so photoninjaing the process and making sure all steps are understood is prime. If you have any ideas as well let me know, I have a machine shop full of machines and a garage full of tools.

Would love to help with coral profiles, as well as Plumbing 101, and could probably do something like "Corals and Octocorals in their Natural Habitats", I am in close proximity to some nice patch reefs from my school.

What do you have in mind uwwmatt? Your Biocube Fuge Light would be a good DIY project article.
SulfurAcid, your help on any articles would be great! I don't think anyone has volunteered for the beginners plumbing article yet. We can always use more coral profiles too!
I've been making good progress on the new section, I think I almost have the layout figured out. Hopefully I can get it launched with a few articles soon.

Sure I can help with whatever you need, what format are you looking for? Do we just type it up and send it to you in a word document or something?

Yeah, a word or plain text document is fine. The pictures should be separate from the document though, so I can edit and format them. Just PM me for my email address when you're ready.

I just finished my DIY ATO. I have done a dry run but I dont have the floats yet. It's easy if you know how to solder and can cut the plastic housing for the plugs yourself. I can include part numbers and links from Mouser also. It is also semi water resistant. Interested?

Its kinda based off the mag float mod, but more more efficient, costs less and looks better. Features 2 level frag rack.

Not as cool as all the rest, since it's not DIY or anything, but if any of you need someone to proofread and edit your write-ups, pm me. Word is ok at proofreading, but it doesn't catch a lot of mistakes.

I would be happy to write articles and/or answer questions regarding anything to do with wood as it relates to the hobby (stands, canopies, finishes, adhesives, fasteners, etc) I have over 25 years carpentry experience and I currently work in wood, acrylic and stone (in addition to my real day-job). An example of my 40 gallon stand I made can be seen in my build thread.

Prof, I would love to see a step-by-step example of how to build a stand like your 40g. Your skill with wood really is remarkable.

DHaut,
I will see what I can put together. I was actually thinking that if Christopher agreed that I could do an article on a 2 basic nano-reef stands (step by step). I could do one for the design I used on my 40 (which could be used for anything up to a 65 gal easily) and then an all plywood stand like I did for my 12g NCDX. That should provide plans that would work for people of all skill levels.
Regardless, I would be more than happy to help you out with your design and planning. I need to download sketch-up on my new computer and refamiliarize myself with how to use it.

The DIY Library is still coming together with the handful of articles we have, but we can always use more! I'm planning to launch it once we have a good base.
