There are deals to be had all over sacramento. You just have to compare. I frequent every store including H2O Exclusives. Dennis sells mostly colonies not frags and they are definitely not cheap. Dennis' systems are filtered by ozone and he uses tap water for water changes. Although the water is crystal clear, I do not see much growth in the tank because the water is quite sterile and there is no guarantee that your corals/fish will make it when introduced in your system. He does have deals with fishes occasionally and most of the fishes I purchased there are ok.

I hang around Jack at AquariumDepot in Roseville now.

hmmm ive yet to check that out. i've never had any problems that i can attribute to Dennis' stock. Hes got an RO/DI filter right up front... No?

And for the record, MARS welcomes reefers. Nano-reefers, reefers, softie nuts, SPS afflicted, big tankers, whatever.

Sorry to bump an old thread but it's not something that's time sensitive. Anyone know a place where i can get good porous dead rocks for cheap? I rather do the seed rocking way so i save money with buying 30 lbs worth of live rocks.. So any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure where to buy cheap dead rocks, but I'd check out Craigslist. Look up reef, saltwater, salt water, and corals. There's usually a lot of people getting out of the hobby these days and I've seen LR sell for $1.50 lb. You could also talk to Jack at Aquarium Depot in Roseville. They're prices are probably some of the cheapest in town. I get all of my dry goods and supplements from them now. They're really helpful and are good people.

Hmm thanks guys! With the $2 a pound LR from P.Kelly should i just buy all the 30 pounds? Or can i save a few dollars buying like 20 pounds of LR from him and the other 10 dead? I would think they're going to end up around the same price no matter what i do, correct?

just buy it al from him because his rock is really nice and has free coral hitchers. plus with the cycled rock will cut down on you cycle time as ong as you add either live sand or run a bare bottom tank

I just bought 25 Pound box Key Largo Dry Rock at MarcoRocks.com. $69.40 shipped to Elk Grove. Said it was pre-cured, I rinsed them first, then put them in a bucket to make sure it was cycled as it advertised, pH stayed the same after a week, so I'm happy with them.

Ok thanks, that sounds exciting! Now i can't wait to buy his rocks, no bad hitchikers for sure. Anyways i already have my sand and it's the Fiji Pink Sand and what are your guys' thoughts on it? I heard its not too pink and it doesn't look like it. I was torn in between the Fiji Pink or the Fine White sand. But the fine sand being blown away kinda pulled me away. Anyways i found this on ebay and what do you guys think about this?

I'd tel you to go to aqaurium depot in roseville they have fully cycled live bio active sand for 20lbs or $20 for a limited time or you can just buy petes i bet his stuff has a lot of critters in it. anyway the sand you get on ebay is just wholesand repackaged

If i didn't already have sand i would have bought that live sand for $20 but i already have fiji pink sand and i don't think it'll be easy to get rid of that.
