Hey Everyone,

Started this tank in 2004 and its been through numerous changes. Its still and always will be a work in progress....

Here are some pics....taken March 2009

The Clarkii Female is 5 years old and spawns every two weeks. The Green Carpet Anemone is 4 years old.

Eggs about to hatch, the eyes are defined. If I had time on my hands Id consider rearing them....

L.Baldrey
Some of the fish...

The Foxface had an outbreak of ich and he lost his slime coat. He's regained his colour now (R.I.P 2009)

A Gulf Blenny - locally collected as a 1" Juvenile, now grown 3" (This fish disappeared in June 2009 sad.gif )

Male Clarkii...also collected locally as a 0.5" juvenile. 3+ years old now...

Nice shots, lots of leathers I see in there.

Very nice tank!

Must be nice to be able to locally collect such nice fish smile.gif

Corals....

This Torch was bought with most heads dead. Snapped the dead ones off. 3 years now and has divided.

Got this frogspawn as a single head in Bangkok...Its split into 4 now..also 3 years old.

This Blastomussa was bought in Jakarta 3 years ago...the damaged tissue was from being hit by the torch.

The LFS guy sold this to me as rotten for AED35($8.50)...I fragged the dying bits and now its almost 2 years old. I have fragged this coral when it grew too big for my tank and you can see both pieces in the Full Tank Shot. This grew really fast.

Another Leather that was dying...Fragged it and its awesome now. Has an awesome glow. The Red shrooms were frags from a friend and now they all over my tank.

The Blue / Purple Shrooms started off about 11 or 12...They done well and multiplied. The Green Acro is my 1st SPS. About 6 months old now.

L.Baldrey
It was just 2 leathers and I fragged both so now I have 4.

Yeah there are a few spots locally and these were collected 2 hours from where I live. I dont collect often but when I do its a load of fun. I believe in conservation and dont touch marine reserves.

L.Baldrey
Thanks guys...Im hoping to get some more colour in there

Beatiful! can you talk us about your equipment?
Very nice!
L.Baldrey
Thanks Carlos,

Decent hardware is hard to come by here as the hobby is still in its infancy, what’s available here is limited and Expensive! Buying online is tough too as the shipping can be double the order amount...So if you want to reef on a small-medium budget it’s pretty tough...

That being said...my tank is acrylic but was sold to me as glass. I found out after using my mag scraper on it...such is the understanding of the LFS (and many hobbyists) here... : )

Anyway...this is my equipment...

Tank:
Acrylic 60G

Skimmer :
H&S 150A with Aquabee 2000/1 pump.
This skimmer is brilliant! I can feed extra and not worry too much.

Lighting :
2 x Radium 150W DE 20K bulb Metal Halide
URI/UVL VHO 2x100W Super Actinic

Mechanical Filtration:
DIY Phosphate Reactor

Sump:

DIY Glass Sump/Refugium with acrylic overflow box
Hydor Seltz pump for return.

Flow:
Vortech MP20
Maxijet 900 with Sureflow mod

Other:
5 stage RO unit

ATC Refractometer
TDS meter

The salt I use is HW MarineMix because it is available locally...Its been decent. I used IO till recently.

On a side note, I used to use BIO-SEA (not available locally) from Aquacraft which I had great results, mixed great, consistent, algae died off and polyp expansion from the corals were great...i also had an explosion of feather dusters all over the tank...they’ve disappeared after switching over to IO but back again with MarineMix…

That sums up my setup

Great tank! I love the clarkii's and the green carpet anemone.

Nice tank. The blenny is real cute.

Great tank! Really nice pictures as well... Your camera must be nice because the colors really "pop".

Anyways, I'm quite impressed with your tank and I wish you the best of luck with it.

By way of curiosity, what, if anything, do you have for redundancy? (Like do you have any backup generators/batteries/pumps or anything?) Your tank inhabitants seem to be doing quite well, and living for a long time.

The camera is a Rebel Xti, Im still getting the hang of it...I got it recently. Thanks for the kind words.

No I have zero redundancy, it runs on faith smile.gif

We never have power outages here...maybe once in every 2-3 years for a couple of hours...

I think selecting proper livestock, not stocking too fast, having proper tank mates, proper feeding and providing good tank conditions alone will put you on track to having them live long...

L.Baldrey
Added the Reeflux 12K -150W double ended bulb last week.

The colour of this bulb is very good. and this bulb is good for 2 feet of tank length.

The coral polyp extension has been fantastic and anemone tentacles have plumped and expanded like ive never seen with the Ushio 10K 150W.

The only grudge i have is its a bit dim but why bother if the corals are happy.

Adding another MJ mod over the weekend.

Update: I have since removed the Reeflux and added a Radium 20K 150W DE....All i can say is the difference is like night and day and it is a bright bulb! Colors POP!

Dude, your tank look small because of that giant 1.5ft diameter carpet. laugh.gif
