I was just thinking about how the hubble space telescope lens was original ground like a micron too low on one side and at several light years it would blur the images too much to use it. I figure it's still lying around somewhere and I could get an adapter for my nikon and take pics of all of your tanks from my house here in TN

Your gonna need one heck of a tirpod. But yea I'm not using that lens anymore so your more than welcome to have it. Only catch you have to come and get it. Its at my buddies house in Houston. He works at NASA...Little brag note. I get to go behind all the keep out signs at NASA. And he sends alot of pics from the hubble and different spacy pics. Hum maybe he could get some pics of the great reef. I know he sent some to me once b4.

i sold my canon 70-200 f4 for it and it has always delivered. I have had it for almost 3years. Personally unless you get the 2.8 IS version of the canon I see no reason to get the canon 2.8 non IS over the sigma. The IQ is soo close on pixel peeping you can see the difference. Its lighting fast AF as well.

Ya I'm not one for cameras. I'm more into high end electronics like tvs and all that. But I have the Cannon Powershot SD790 IS. Works perfect for what I need.

My gear is kind of a crappy list at the moment thanks to the whole unemployment thing I've got going on, so I'm not gonna bother with pictures. That said, I've got a 20D body with grip, an EOS 30 body with grip, an EOS 1000QD body, and a bunch of lenses (2 zooms, 2 primes), a ######ty old stand from about 5 decades ago, a speedlite from the 70s, and a bunch of old film bodies. Serves the purpose for now.

Apr 13 2009, 08:04 PM

in this order
1. D40 body w/ 18-55/3.5-5.6 kit, cheapo tripod
2. Nikkor 55-200/3.5-5.6
3. table top tripod
4. cable shutter release
5. D80 body
6. Nikkor 50/1.8
7. Nikon battery grip for D80
8. Dakine Mission Photo backpack
9. Nikon SB-600 speedlight, Nikon wireless remote shutter release, gorilla pod tripod
10. Sigma 24-60/2.8
software: photoshop CS2, Lightroom 1.x

Need me some carbon fiber

Apr 13 2009, 08:13 PM
I am not happy with the tripod, but I can't bring myself to buy a good one because when I have $500 in my pocket and I get to spend it on gear, I always get a lens instead of a better tripod
although I actually do "need" a better tripod now, because that one can't hold the D80 w/ grip and speedlight if it is anything other than perfectly straight

i'll play

purchased in this order:
1. 28 - 80mm kit lens from film rebel 2000
2. EOS 350D (rebel xt) body
3. 75 - 300mm
4. basic canon remote
5. lensbaby 3g
6. canon speedlite 430ex ii
7. 24-70/2.8 L
yeah, my gear blows. it seems to do the trick though.

My current gear: (pic taken with a.............
Nikon.)

Left to right: 28-135mm IS, Digital Rebel XT, 100mm macro, 50mm f1.8, 70-300mm (crap), 1.4x teleconverter, 430EX.
Considering my first camera was a ~2 megapixel Olympus P&S... I'm doing pretty good. Went through a Fuji Finepix S602z and Nikon Coolpix 8700 also.
