Good bulbs in the fixture: 2xGeismann Aquablue+ and 1xGeismann Actinic+
I'm thinking about switching out the cheapo actinics with: a second Geismann Actinic+, a Geismann Pure Actinic, and a KZ Fiji Purple...................

Might order another Aquablue+ just in case it's too much actinic.

the pure actinic isnt blue at all, its more of a purple color. Get the figi, Is this a 4 bulb or 6 bulb fixture?

Go Geismann still do an 11000k bulb? I used to run 2 of those with a 20000k and an actinic+ and it looked pretty dern sweet.

Ok, so I went and researched it for you
(yes, yes, I know I'm wonderful, thank you, thank you very much *bows*)
and it turns out that the Giessemann Aquablue+ is similar to the ATI Aquablue+, just with a lower PAR, and is supposed to be around 1100k.
After looking at everything, I think your original idea of getting an additional Giessemann Actinic+, a Giessemann Pure Actinic, and a Fiji Purple might not be a bad idea, actually.
It would have a bluer look to it than what you're used to with your previous light fixtures, but at the same time the lower PAR would probably be just about right for what your tank seems to like right now, and it might not look bad either.
If you want to get an extra bulb in case it looks too blue to you, I would get either a GE 6500k or an Aquablue+.

Nothing really to update... When I got home after work yesterday, the house AC unit was acting up again... the house was 86F inside... The tank water was up to around 82F...
Got the AC to work again, and the temp came back down slowly. Nothing seemed to be bothered in the tank though!
I did another water change a little while later and the water is coming out a brownish tint (ya ya, a skimmer would take care of that... pah) so I'm going to be doing frequent water changes until I feel it's clean again. The corals look good though. A lot of the polyps that had been closed are open now. The GSP is still blah. The frogspawn is inflating more, but I still need to rescape the tank and bring the LPS to a lower level in the tank... and find spots for the SPS.

Wish I could come over and help you, that's a project I'd have fun with.
So are you still just keeping 4 bulbs on, or what?

I haven't turned off any of the bulbs. Just raised the light fixture up on the mounting legs. I was going to go with your suggestion also and turn off two bulbs, but the switch that controls only two would turn off the good actinic bulb and one of the other actinics, leaving the tank with mostly white light.. and I just haven't gotten around to switching the bulbs to do so yet.

Oh, that reminds me. I got a voicemail from reefgeek about my bulbs and shipping... gotta call them back!

Awwwww, you're sweet. I guess if you can't be blessed with any of nature's other gifts, cuteness is all one really needs As for what.. the 11000k thing! I buy all of my lighting stuff online (because you go to virtually any aquarium here and ask them about T5 and they look at you like you're a moron, and the ones that don't only carry dodgy Taiwanese crap) from a supplier that doesn't have all of the fancy-pants names and instead lists them by colour value. Eg., a Geismann Powerchrome Actinic+ becomes simply Geismann 22000k. I actually kinda prefer it that way instead of having to try to navigate my way around all of the superfluous naming and trying to decipher wtf they are. Call me strange.


And Kim, nice work on the AC debacle. Gotta love the subtropics when summer draws near...

I was calling her Lani the whole time. We are still fragging corals at this point. I was even using a dremel. I dont remember much more besides that now, but when I first woke up, it was intense!

Oh, and I tested the dKH just now... up to 9.6!
pH is around 8.4

just wrap them up in paper towel thats what i do when i change bulbs out. Just make sure you have enough becuase i burned the living crap out of my finger changing out a 250w mh bulb. lol
