It was odd, I have 4 right next to each other on a rock. Two made it fine and the other two shrunk up and disappeared. Almost made me as mad as the frogspawn.

Your uber clean water aggravates me as well. Makes me want to step on my pistol shrimp.

Unfortunately, I don't think so. I saw one of them a couple of months ago, but none since.... of course, before that one, I hadn't seen a single stomatella for almost 6 months, so they might still be in there.. just hiding really well.

I miss them. sigh

I happened to stop by a new LFS yesterday just to see what they had available and they had two of the tiny lil guys in the display tank. Had to get one.
Didn't see him in the tank this morning while the lights were out... hopefully he'll be there when I get home..

One of my babies hosts a xenia frag and dissapears in it.

Every morning I go in searching for him and hold my breath till he apears. I swear I turn blue sometimes before I find him.

No sign of him.. even when I fed the tank...

So I either have a predator in the tank, because the YCG is also MIA, or my tank induces suicide...... either way, I'm done with fish. NO MORE!

That sucks, losing fish is the worst.

Sorry to hear about the little tyke Lani. Maybe he's just hiding really, really well. My RCG went missing in the 20L for about 4 days before I moved some rocks and found him again. I'm not sure if he's still alive in the 29 or not.... maybe we both just have spy fish?

Hopefully he'll decide to grace you with his presence tomorrow.

I just spent about 3 days on and off reading through your 20H thread and this one. I love your relatively simple approach to reef keeping and I am impressed with what you have been able to achieve with these 2 tanks.

I seriously read most of the posts too, had some good laughs and it feels like a good community here. I am a noob to NR, but I have recently started a 20H for my son and I to explore together after many years away from this hobby (Its still cycling at the moment). I have a lot to learn since a lot has changed since last I tried my hand at reef keeping. I have the hope that I will be able to be as successful as you have been.

Thanks for the wonderful macro photography as well. There is a reason that people beg you for pics, I have yet to see a bad one in your threads. We have basically the same camera and lens setup, so I look forward to trying to take shots of my tank as you have over the months. Its pretty fascinating to read tank threads, you kind of get an idea of the roller coaster ride that is reef keeping. Anyways good luck with this tank, it seems to be taking you through some highs and some lows. GL in the future and see you around NR.

Yeah, keeping reef tanks is like riding a rollercoaster.. It's a worthwhile effort though. Being able to just sit and watch what's going on in the tank (when things are going right) is rewarding enough. Your son is going to love it!

You take so many amazing pictures and have nice tanks too. You even have a job. It's impossible to have enough time to take care of all that.

Come to think of it, the zoas in my tank aren't really growing at all.. or they are, but extremely slowly... Hmm.
I wonder if it has something to do with that whole electrocution thing a while back?

the anemones have settled in. I'm considering starting feedings - I want them to multiply!

Woo! I feed mine chunks of frozen krill when I think about it and they seem to really like it. Start feeding them once a day or so and you'll see splits soon, probably once a month if you keep it up. And they heal fairly quickly from natural splitting! I had one split start eating only 3 or 4 days later.

Oh well, we can still appreciate eachother's body.

I think the culprit was a "spiny star astrea," which now that I think about it might not actually be an astrea at all. Hmm...

Like the new macros. I'm thinking of selling my mini nem rock for $50 - it's got 3 nems on it and one is about to split. That's not a bad deal is it?

You've already got a bunch of macro algae in there so I assume they wouldn't go after the new stuff. Maybe mine just really liked whatever flavor I bought.

I've got another one on a different rock, so I won't be getting rid of them all. I like them ok, but I'd rather use the space for something else right now.
