That's great news Lani! I've been dosing now for about 2 months and the difference is amazing! I always thought water changes would be enough, guess not. The hassle of dosing 2-part everyday is so worth it!

At least not with B-Ionic, which is what I've been using.

BEautiful!
I didn't go through all 97 pages and I'm sure my answer is somewhere in there but, is there any reason you are running the 110 and the 70?
Im guessing the 70 is just pure filtration and the 110 is for the fuge?
DO you have any issues with fine particles? I have a modded AC70 on my 30G and I have it stuffed with filter floss, chaeto and chemipure. I still have tons of tiny particles in the water. It definetly is not sand blowing around. I change the floss every other day.
Lalani
Mar 4 2010, 11:22 AM
I run the 110 as a fuge and the 70 is strictly used for the surface skimmer, no mechanical or chemical filtration whatsoever and I don't have any trouble with fine particles.
Are the particles micro air bubbles?

Definetly not air bubbles or micro air bubbles. I had a surface film as well but that surface has cleared up a ton since I started using the AC Surface skimmer.
I figured the particles might take a while to go away but its been almost a month since I started using the filter floss.

Hmmm, I've never used chemipure but I'm assuming it must be rinsed before using. Did you rinse it thoroughly before using it? I'm really not sure what it could be. I've been lucky in that I've never had trouble with particulates in the water column!

Yep always rinse my chemipure.
A thought comes to my mind... I'm running a AC50 impeller in my AC70. I had done this because I wanted reduced flow when I used to have it on my 10 gallon. Do you think the reduced flow is maybe causing stuff to not get picked up fast enough or something?
Maybe I should put back on the original impeller to see if that helps. But now you have me thinking I could use the 70 stock and mod a 110 to be my fuge. Nothing wrong with more water since I have no sump.
Its not a bad situation or anything, my water isn't cloudy or anything but it annoys me at times to see tiny little things floating around.. lol

Do you do a lot of pruning to keep all the algae looking like it does?
Lalani
Mar 5 2010, 10:06 AM
I pretty much let it grow as it pleases until there's too much.. then I rip a lot out. Might have to remove it once every 2 or 3 months.
