Lani, two quick questions - I didn't know where else to ask... do you have any experience with sexy shrimp and a Hoeven's Wrasse, and how much light do your mini nems like?
Thanks,
Brian

According to liveaquaria, hoeven's wrasses are non-reef safe... one will probably eat sexies. :/
Minis are fine with any type/level of lighting.. they aren't picky at all. Keep in mind that they may catch and eat unsuspecting fish or snails and can move around and sting corals. Feeding them often will increase the speed at which the split.

Thanks for the reply, I haven't had any problem with my hoeven's picking at corals, but I didn't want to add any small inhabitants that might be seen as lunch.
There is a swap 50 miles away from me in a few weeks and someone has listed several mini's for pre-sale. I just don't take what one or two web sites say (to sell product) as gospel, I would rather ask someone who has kept them for there expertise.
Thanks again,
Brian

You're welcome.

Though, to be honest, the AC110 is kind of a small fuge for a 75gal tank. A sump/fuge is out of the question?
I don't really want to drill the tank, so that's why. I might do two of the AC's and i'm also thinking of doing macro algea in the display itself. I don't plan on having too much of a bioload, though i'm sure that's what everyone usually starts out with saying..
I want to get this thing going and then maybe further down the line save up for an overlflow. I'd incorporate a sump/fuge then.
um...did i read the other posts correctly.... is there a receiving line for Yumas???

Haha, there is a line, but I think I'm going to send off just a couple more then try to build up my stock of them. The babies are still really small.

Yeah, it's in the 20s here right now. Definitely not coral shipping weather. I'll come up with something to trade you, you can pick from my upcoming pico thread.

Your minimalist tank is an insipration to me! Finally got myself a 40 gallon tank. I also have masked gobies , started out with 5, and slowly they went missing, now i have 2 left - they been in the tank for 2 months now, keep my fingers crossed. One of the goby always has a very bulging belly vs. the other, I am hoping they will pair off.

I've noticed one of my masked gobies has a bulging belly also. Can't wait to see updated pics of your 40!

Hey, Lalani, do you still have the MP 20 on your tank? Do you like its flow? I have 2 K2s in my 40 now, which is 2 x 600 gph, I am debating if I should get 2 MP's, and whether it's MP 10, 20, or 40.
BTW, my tank is also sumpless, and has a hob refugium, you are the proof to me this can be done, LOL.

Yeah, I still use the MP20. Recently adjusted it so there is a little more flow on the other side of the tank and added a koralia nano pretty much right on top of the SPS pieces, they're much happier now. The MP20 does a decent job in the 40, but the MP40 would be a better choice. The 20 just doesn't have the power to move the water throughout the entire tank (yes yes, adin was right, as usual). Or you could do two 20s, which would be pretty cool.. wave action!
Glad my tank can inspire someone. Natural filtration FTW!

I have lots of tanks. Lots of overstocked tanks, at that. A shiny new reef octopus for the sump of the 125 and then a cheap little HOB for the new 55 gallon.
The 55 is just flat overstocked and the 125 gets overfed now because of the anthias. I figured both could benefit from some skimmage.
