Ok well I created a fuge using the AC70 for my 3 gallon at work that I have had for a year and a half. I am a little unclear on what I should put in it. I was thinking about using rubble rock and cheto (I dont think I spelled that right). Any ideas???? Thanks smile.gif

Cheato, lose the LR rubble, chemi-pure/purigen/phosban/carbon and a filter pad/floss

What Luke said. LR rubble will just be one more thing to clean.

Hey thanks guys!!!

question: how do you fit "chemi-pure/purigen/phosban/carbon and a filter pad/floss" into the ac70 modded fuge. how is it configured? a pic would be great. smile.gif

I put the chem pure elite bag in the chamber where the intake is and have my heater and cheato in the main chamber

Can you fit filter floss in there somewhere?

If you modded it correctly you can use both sides of the original media basket to make a holder for the floss, right as the water flows into the reserve. Turn them sideways.

Hmm.. a pic would be so helpful right now. smile.gif

All the mods i've seen, don't include a place for filter floss...

You should check out El Fab's Simple Guide to Pico Tanks it has all kinds of pictures of an AC70 mod

oh, his guide is awesome, i've seen it! but it doesn't include a spot for filter floss...

However i just had a wonderful idea.. lol (well in my head it is).. how about putting the filter floss on the ramp where the water falls back into the tank? All you gotta do is add another mesh area at the bottom of the ramp to hold it in place. Wouldn't that work?

I think that small of a piece of floss filtering all of the water will load up with detrius quick Larger is better. The spot for the floss is the area left of the left side wall of the original media basket. Using the other side, place it closer to the intake pipe, making a new mini chamber.

Ok, I'm gonna hijack this thread since it's no longer used...

My question: Is an AC70 fuge big enough for a 20L that i'm planning for? I want to put the fuge on the short side (12") of the 20L (to make a peninsula tank), and the AC110 does not fit (tried it at the LFS). Plus, the AC70 can fit between the legs of whatever lights i wanna get. Will good flow and lotsa LR be enough with an AC70?

Are there other HOB options?

I have an AC110 and emperor (rated 70g, dont know the number) on my 20l. the flow is everywhere. I noticed then I had just the 110 the ends where kinda weak, but i also have it really filled with live rock, so if you have less then 15 lbs around, you'll need less flow then me.
