I have mine in place, just not running atm. I need to find the CD it came with to figure out how to properly tune it.
coralcor- it is about 3"x3"x10", very small, I would think so.

I'm still tuning it, so idk how well it works yet, seems to be good, but the proof is in the skimmate, of which I have none as of now.
It blasts out a lot of microbubbles.

Well its in my sump, so it hits a prefilter and bubbletrap before the return pump, so not in my case.

Break in could also affect the bubble issue, I know some of the 9002's are bubble factory's when they are new.

I have to get one setup again. The one I had setup, one of my good customers forced me to let him take it home to his tank (only one I had in the store at that time). I will get another setup ASAP to try and get some pictures of.

I agree, however, it will be a while before we'll be able to see those results.
My Deltec MC500 produced q good amount of micro bubbles. After a few weeks of breaking in, however, they disappeared.

Not very, a little bit of slurping, but its still breaking in after all.
I can't hear it over my overflow, I'll put it tat way.

When I had mine running while doing a little testing it was more of a motor hum almost like some of the MH ballasts. Not bad though just noticable.

the slurping i can fix. know a few mods if i can find the link i can post it.
and i can just stick it in to the wire chamber of my RSM. but i bet any thing is quieter than this skimmer i have now.
Eick
Mar 24 2009, 04:28 PM
The slurping might also be from the way you have it wedged up against the glass it might be sucking in on it. When I had mine up it never made a slurping noise.

These are too big to fit in any of the rear chambers of 12/14g AIOs. It could fit in some of the 24/29g AIOs with a little massaging to the rim of the tank.

this picture is after about 2 days...it was a little hard to adjust but i think i finally got it right....water is starting to get nice and brown! 2/3 of the water in the cup was clear water when i was still adjusting so it got mixed with about 1/3 skim.....u get the picture, ill post another pic after another couple days with it now adjusted properly.

For those with a JBJ 24DX, it fits in the chambers with just a little trimming of the lip on the back top of the tank. Just installed mine about an hour ago.

If thats 2/3 clear water, it's already doing better than the Biocube skimmer. I wish it would fit in the BC14. I'm just going to make my own.

No hardware store I find carries weldon

Thus no DIY skimmer since Weldon is $20 shipped to hawaii,
in the end it would cost as much as this skimmer.

you dont have to use weldon.
PVC cleaner welds acrylic as well. ive built tanks and sumps using PVC cleaner with no problems.

MEK (Methyl ethyl keytone) will work to bond acrylic too.

The big island is pretty empty compared to Honolulu.
It's grown, there are at least two dozen more franchises in Kona that have been started in the pass 6 years.

I kind of love that about the Kona though is much more laid back, kind of like Kauai. The Big Island kind of holds a special place for me though I hiked up Mauna Kea in 07 on New years eve at midnight hard to describe how beautiful it is up there.

Mine has broken in very well after about a week. It puts out very few microbubbles now and is very quiet.

This is what its been pulling!
I think it was a great purchase, for the price you can't beat it!
Hope that helps!
