Well it was another beautiful ay here in Michigan so I took another hike out the the woods. Saw some deer and a group of wild turkeys. Unfortunately I couldn't get any decent picture with my stock lens.

Any one know what that plant is? Very interesting looking.

Haven't posted on this thread in awhile. I have two lenses coming this week. A minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 and a minolta AF 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5.

Here's a couple shots still using the stock Sony lens.

the plant is skunk cabbage

damage it and you will find out why

I like # 4

I think your composition could use a bit of work

google the rule of thirds
it helps a bunch

Thank you. I fixed the double post, I make mistakes when typing half asleep in the middle of the night. laugh.gif

Also watch your highlights on 3 and 4. Check out the histogram on those.
I like the compo of 2 but color seems squiffy. Also maybe a little more detail in the fuzzy part.
6 is a little soft overall, maybe camera motion. I like the idea though.
7 I like the most, good color and I think the silhouette was a good choice.

Thanks for the critiques. A lot of the softness I think is due to the fact that it was pretty windy out. I've taken a few shots inside at handheld at 1/125 of a second with flash on and they are very sharp. I also think some of the softness is from my upload process. I always have picasa compress my pics down when uploading them.

Here's a duplicate that was uploaded without compression

Edit: Still doesn't look as good as the originals look. Try looking at them on my deviantart gallery. They look better there. Link

Long time no post. Took a trip to South Haven a couple weeks ago and snapped a few shots of the lighthouse. Winter doesn't always suck here in Michigan.

A few new shots. As always check out the link in my sig to my deviantart account.

So I had a local reefer offer up 3 lenses and a flash for my camera for $300. One of them is a 100mm f2.8 macro lens. Once I have the money I'm jumping on the offer. I've been dying to get my hands on a macro lens.
