And they are having a sale right now, talk your gf into letting you get it!!
PSYS
I got a couple of goodies for my tank last night on the way home from work. Stopped off at a local reefer's house and picked up a couple of new frags. smile.gif

They're SO sweet. cool.gif

Pics are forthcoming. I promise.
PSYS
Did my normal routine tank maintenance earlier this morning and mounted a couple of frags on my live rock. I found a couple of nook and crannies that allowed them to fit perfectly. I just slapped a little epoxy under the frags and wedged them in the rock... so they're staying put now in those locations.

I got two new frags a couple of nights ago... and two more new frags this morning. Everyone in the tank is pretty grouchy for the most part right now. I did the water change this morning and then moved a few things around and stirred some things up... and yeah, everyone for the most part isn't really a happy camper.

But here's some pics:

* got these really big bright green polyps. Not sure what they are but my Margarita Snail loves hanging out on the frag disc. mad.gif They get enormous when the snail isn't climbin' all over them.

* these are insane. the shade of green is almost fluorescent. no idea what they are but they're way brighter than anything else I have in my pico right now. *

* got this new mushroom earlier this morning. it's still really grouchy. But it's SO bright. I love the coloring and pattern on it!! *

* got these new zoas, too. they haven't really opened up yet. I got these from the same couple I got the mushroom from. anyone wanna guess what they are...? biggrin.gif

* FTS... before adding the 'shroom and unopened zoas. smile.gif *

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!
Aeridne
Lookin' good! I have those same "eagle eyes" and vibrant green zoas! I just love them too, especially under pure blue light. That striped mishroom looks pretty sweet! I agree with Gerber that you should get a ric, they have awesome ones on that site.
Gerber77
Dude the pico is looking sweet, all those frags are awesome. Your getting a really nice zoa garden wink.gif

My polyps look like that under actinic lighting and they grow quickly, maybe a head or two per week i fragged them and swapped them for a few trays of frozen food for my trop tank, i get through a tray and half a week of blood worm, and a good few handfuls of dry food too.

OK. I saw this guy last night on my substrate hiding behind the mushroom in my tank. He is FAST! The light scared him away and just now... I happened to be looking at the tank and he is on the front glass! I've NEVER seen him before and it isn't a snail I purchased!!

What is it??

It has really long antennae... the shell on its back is sort of smooth and elongated. Difficult to describe and I couldn't get a good photo of the shell.

He's happy chowing down on any algae he finds on the glass so I'm not going to remove him... unless someone thinks it's harmful. I just find it cool that my tank has been established for a couple of months now... and I'm still finding new lifeforms. smile.gif

I believe its a stomatella snail, good algae eater and harmless. Also breed like rabbits.

1.) Local reef club meeting this Saturday means I'm coming home with new frags... yay!! smile.gif

2.) I split the shipping with a local reef club member from LiveAquaria and finally ordered a fish for my pico... I'm driving up to Green Bay to pick it up tonight. yay!! smile.gif

3.) My Green Bay Packer zoas have at least five new polyps sprouting up next to the frag... yay! smile.gif

4.) My Goochsters have two new baby polyps that have started... yay! smile.gif

5.) I've discovered now not one... but two new Stomatella Snails in my tank... yay! smile.gif

6.) My chaeto is finally beginning to grow like crazy... yay! smile.gif

PSYS
Drove all the way up to Green Bay last night which is a solid 45 minute drive from Oshkosh to pick up my fish for my pico!! happy.gif I ordered him with another member of my local reef club and we split the shipping costs from LiveAquaria. The little guy was so scared in his plastic bag... but I got him home and got him acclimated.

I can already tell he's going to be king of the pico... he's still very scared and somewhat skittish, but I expect that will wear off by the end of the day. dry.gif

I'll have fresh new pics for you guys tonight or tomorrow. smile.gif

In other news, I am going to my very first local reef club meeting on Saturday afternoon and I am pumped!! I'll see if I can bring a camera along and take some pics of the guy's tank who is hosting the meeting. I believe he has a 125-gal. reef and a 125-gal. sump/refugium/frag tank. ohmy.gif

And to make matters even better, I'm getting ** at least ** five... yes, FIVE brand new frags this weekend at the meeting. I am so fricken excited!! happy.gif

In other news, a friend of mine who used to be on a local VW forum in Minneapolis when I lived there actually found me on this forum because he's thinkin' about setting up a saltwater tank of his own. And I've not talked to him in forever. Small world, huh? What up, OMNI! cool.gif

Oh, and I also think that I have so many copepods and other various pods crawling around in my tank that I swear I'm not gonna hafta feed my fish for a month. Maybe longer. He's so much natural live food in that tank, he's gonna be fat and happy before he even realizes it. laugh.gif If I shine a flastlight on my sandbed at night after the lights have been out for awhile... I swear, it looks as though the sandbed is actually moving. scarry01.gif It scares me!!

Happy Friday, everyone!!

Haha, small world! everything looks awesome Scott! I can't wait to see pics of the new fish! I think I'm gonna order my pico tank in the next day or two here!

btw, I dropped 'omni' (when I got outta the vw/car scene) and go by 'Aberrix' now wink.gif

What kind of fish did you get brotha? Cant wait to see the new frag pics.

Got up bright and early this morning when my girlfriend had to go to work. Did my usual tank maintenance and ended up moving the rock a little further back in my tank to allow for more room up front for additional frags. huh.gif Crazy, I know.

When I moved the live rock back, there were at least four Bristleworms that I counted that were probably an inch long or so. omgomgomg.gif Damn, one second they're there... and the next, they're gone. It's scary!!

So... I was finally able to catch a photo of the little guy I added on Thursday evening. I split shipping with a guy in my local reef club and ended up getting a Blue Sapphire Damselfish a.k.a. Springer's Damsel (Chrysiptera springeri) He is beyond adoprable. He has SO much personality, it's crazy. He's already got some spunk to him and an attitude to boot! cool.gif He's out in the open a lot more and I can already say that my pod population has diminished severely. His coloring his simply beautiful... bright royal blue with a hint of purple and tiny black splotches of paint scattered around his head, dorsal fin and "upper" body. He's probably an inch long... maybe 1.25" if I pulled on him from end to end. laugh.gif

I took 20 photos this morning of him after I did my water change and tank maintenance... and this is about the best one that came out.

Without further adieu...

The other thing that I am super excited that I've already mentioned a couple of times is my local reef club meeting this afternoon. This is the first meeting I'll be attending and I've already met a couple of really nice guys in the process of joining this reef club. I'm actually bringing a couple of plastic bags to carry all of the frags I'll be getting today. tongue.gif hahaha.... yay!!

Pics will follow shortly.

...just got home from my local reef club meeting. wow. awesome experience. I got to meet so many cool people!! Plus?? I got a bunch of new frags. The tank is pretty grumpy, overall right now... but I did snap a few photos. More are coming, I promise. Just gotta give the tank a couple of days to settle down...

I also ordered the Coralife Dual Timer online this morning. I figure, I'll need it once I upgrade the lighting. AND I think the various timer settings will come in handy.

Here a few photos...

** fishy **

One of my Nasarrius Snails must've smelled something good earlier...

** another shot of my baby **

** this mushroom is really growing in this spot **

** new corals!! ultra blue cloves & unknown pink zoas with brownish/gray skirts **

** another shot of the blue cloves **

** better shot of the new zoas **

Again, more photos are forthcoming... but the rest of the frags are REALLY grumpy so photos would be worthless. I'll take some photos once they open up.

So frustrated with my camera. It simply doesn't have the capability to take a decent close-up shot when we're talking about small frags to begin wtih... bleh. sad.gif My camera is great for every day life but nano reef photography definitely isn't it's specialty. I can get a decent shot with it to save my life.

* green palys *

* no idea what these two tiny polyps are... they're so small, I can't even tell what color they are *

* zoa garden *

* crappy photo of yellow palys *

* no idea what these are but they're bright orange *

* super crappy FTS *

* another crappy shot of the bright orange zoas *

My camera does not do the new frags any justice whatsoever. I think the curved front glass of the picotope make it difficult, as well. Dammit!! Oh well... not a big deal. I'm happy with the new frags. happy.gif

My blue cloves are already beginning to grow. scarry01.gif They've got longer "stalks" on them and they're definitely more blue from the day I acclimated them. I have the frag they're on literally sitting in the middle of my sand bed away from my live rock. I know it'll only be a matter of time before they begin plotting to take over my little pico.

Everything else in my tank is growing. Not only growing... but thriving. My Green Bay Packer zoas are beginning to creep upwards onto the rock in back of them. The pinkies in the far left are beginning to inch their way downwards. My Goochsters are also inching their way upwards onto the rock.

I also defrosted a cube of mysis shrimp last night and "injected" a little into the water with my turkey baster and everyone seemed very happy. I only feed the tank once every 7-10 days because I'm paranoid about phosphate levels rising and horrific algae outbreaks. It seems to work well.

Damn, is it really only Tuesday?? sad.gif

** Evidently, while playing around with my camera today... I discovered 'underwater" mode takes better photos of my pico. happy.gif I don't understand exactly what it is the underwater mode is doing to the camera from a technical standpoint. It's almost as though the cameras auto-focus system seems to work a lot better. I've always had the ISO set at the lowest setting... anyway, check out the shots I got today.
