Hi,
I bought a yellow goby on the 15th of this month. He hasn't eaten much, seems to spit out most of his food. So today I come back from work and has bumps all over. It's not white so i doubt it being ich. I have Aiptasia but dosed with Joe's juice as soon as I read that the bumps may be due to the aiptasia stinging the goby. I don't have a QT tank to treat it and I have a pair of yellow striped maroons and a mystery wrasse so I really don't want them to get infected at all. So pretty much should I take him out or is this only a clown goby thing that goes away with time....Thanks

do you have a picture of the bumps?

Usually they have that when they don't eat. I had one that was like that and got the bumps and a few days later it died. Sry but these guys really need to get a good diet before you buy them to do good.

Should i take it out in case it infects the other fish or it won't do anything..???

Same question. Bump

LOL... nice bump to a 1/2 year old thread.

But, really they get those when they are malnourished. See if you can get him to feed and get him back to health. These guys can be very picky. Try cyclopeeze or enriched brine baby shrimp to start off.

Clown gobies eat acropora in nature. Sometimes they will do okay with cyclopeze... sometimes not. Hit or miss.

OK, I'll bump this thread too because I have the same problem with a yellow clown goby I've had for two weeks. His appetite is very good, and he'll accept any frozen food. He doesn't seem malnourished to the naked eye, but he's so new that I don't "know" him yet. Otherwise his behavior is fine. He doesn't seem to be exhibiting stress.

He has about a dozen bumps. They're similar in appearance to the "skin tags" that humans get sometimes. My other fish, a yellow watchman goby, isn't affected.

I bumped this earlier with the same problem. After a few weeks in my tank the bumps went away and the goby is looking really healthy now. I'm not sure what happened but i bought in the the hungry/undernourished idea. I think he got more food in my tank, he was the "runt" in the tank at the LFS and probably doesn't have to compete for food now??? BTW those bump look EXACTLY like what mine did.

Will they eat pods? I just got one, and put him in a QT tank that I have had running for a while, it has been running empty with some LR and a ball of chaeto. There should be lots of pods in there. I will be feeding him baby brine shrimp tomorrow. He has one little spot like the ones in the pics, I will try to get a pic up.

Cyclopeeze!!!!! Helps the picky eaters eat whatever's soaked in it haha (for the freeze dried one) and for the frozen bar just feed little pieces of it

im on the same process on this now. i have a green clown goby. i have him in the quarantine tank for 1 1/2 week and the bumps r already getting smaller. i use a mix of cyclopeze, brine and mysis
