How important do you think the additional equipment you bought was? Specifically the profilux and the am sn400.

Are they only needed for the very difficult coral?

Not important at all ( to run a basic RSM )

The SN400 is not attached anymore im running bio pellets now in a AM tube
The Profilux is just that little bit extra for me.. i control the lighting and a streamer with that,. a normal RSM does not have dimmable lighting to control .
and the auto top-off is because i don't want to do it by hand ( filling with calcium water )

update :

still having cyano problems, and lead me in to a different approach.

Installed Ozon zo fight that now.
Installed a swirl filter with bio pellets

i also replaced my AM KS1000 after 2 times leakage.
I bought myself a Aqua-Care KWS 75 ( lime water reactor )

After a incident with lime water and a Ph of 12 half the stock has been destroyed last september ( 2010)

after some pickup and continue pep-talks i managed to get my tank stable .

Good to see you back man.Those flower pot corals are VERY hard to keep.Did you ever get the bubble algea under control?

Still fighting the Cyano bacteria.

I begun sucking out the old sandbed
started to clean the so called RSM250 "Sump"
A toothbrush to daily clean the rocks

i do got Chemiclean on hand, but that will be my last resort if all other fails

Booking progress in the cyano fight..

The tank never been so clean.. daily going trou with the waterhose. blasing off the rocks and filtering out the ditrus ( #### )
