Just a question what does donis reef have to do with me or my clowns. This thread has nothing to do with her fish. Maybe you think that my fish are from her your very wrong. These fish are wild caught offspring just to give ya a heads up.

no actually i have had the worst vibrio virus in the world. It was horrible. I ran into problems with bad microalgae dont even ask it was brutal. Im building a whole new grow out cuz everything was infested and i didnt feel like bleaching so im going with acrylic tanks brand new. Its always somehting. Another thing i found out is that the blue bucket of salt from oceanic has .50 ammonia when diluted and i was getting die offs so im working kinks out. When it rains it pours. Right now i have no babies at all. I have lost 8 batches in a row and im waiting for new nano from reed mariculture cuz the three i had were bad and caused serious problems. But randy reed is great and hes covering everything and getting me out new stuff. I hope it gets better

How did you cure it that's serious stuff don't your parents have it
christosclowns
Oct 18 2009, 02:13 AM
No the parents are perfect because they are on two different systems and i never croos contaminate water. I pretty much starting the growout form scratch all over again. Its the only option so these things happen. Just like people we get sick sometimes we can cure it sometimes it is a life long illness that kills us. I dunno seems like clownfish die allot easier but im trying so well see

Ok well here is an update for those interested. I have 5 snowflake pairs laying right now and all of them are fertile. I wll be hatching around 300 eggs this weekend from pair 2. The original male and the second male who were eating the eggs are fertile and have stopped so hopefully I will have some wicked looking fish in the next month. I hope everyone is still interested as i will be giving the first pair away for free in a drawing those who are interested start speaking you piece. i hope i get to talk with all of you. This year will be a great year for clownfish considering the fact that i figured out the lil problems I ran into and now i have more eggs and babies that i know what to do with as it looks. Ill ttyl see ya

Awesome thread. I've got two clowns myself that I bought separately on the same day last week.
They've been super close already and I think they're preparing to mate? The male has been waving his tale at the ground and the female has been clearing away tiny pebbles in one corner. She never had touched the bottom beforehand. My male has also been turning on his side and looking like he's having seizures around her. How long is the process usually from this behavior to laying eggs? Should I put a pot in the bottom or will they be fine on sand?
Wish i had the tank space to ask to be on that list. :\

I'd love to be in on the drawing. Also, how exactly do you make sure that the pair someone buys stays together? Is there some secret to making them become a mated pair?
Let me know what pricing you're thinking about too. I might be in the market soon.

theyre hermaphrodites, as long as you get two males you have a pretty decent chance of a pair as long as one doesnt kill the other.

I could give a free pair a good home
I've gone through the whole process up to rearing before but would love to see it through with a nice pair - I actually put my name in the hat to be Joyce Wilkerson's assistant for a special anemonefish exhibit but the National Aquarium never got her... too bad ...

Get them while they are still small. Also, if you have the ability, get one slightly larger than the other.

Thank you for all your comments. The list has been started. So as soon as i see patterning i will post pix. Thy are very tiny yet i do sem som extreme crazy head bands coming in with allot of white. As far as the black occ with a snowflak thats in the making im just awaiting them to spawn could b tomorrow could be next month i dont know but i do hav three black Occ females with snowflakes. As far as pricing gos im definetly not going to sell thm for an outrageous amoutn of money. I dont car if other breders get pissed i will sell them for what i would pay for them as a hobbyist and i havent figured that out yet. Im guessing from 100 to 150 a fish 250 a pair i think that is very fair. I owuld love to get input from your point of you what a good price would be cuz then again your the market and i can tell you one thing everyone has a tast for a certain type of clownfish. Picassos are awesome, platinums and wyoming whits are to but snoflakes have something about them to me they are def up there with the rarity. What i like is that they have their own distinct markings. Meaning the pattrn is very similar in all of theem so it stays dominant. Well se what happens so far so good and i have a thousand or so picassos in growout. I iwll post pix when the time is right thanks all s ya

Set up some sort of auction. The better the pattern, the higher the price. Price is based on demand.
