Think the 8 bulb could suatain sps in an AGA 75? I'm going nutz right now just thinking about it! I wanted to take over my dad's 75 but the lighting cost was crazy, not now!

IMaNoob
I ended up winning the 30" sundial on ebay brand new for $98 shipped. Now thats a killer deal! LOL
Nick's Reef
Well may do the light for the 75. Cost for maintence and to get it back on track would be a bit much for a freshman in highschool. $400 a year just for waterchanges, need 2 k4s $100, new skimmer pump $80, new sand $100, more rock ~$30, fuge light $20, paint $5, and a hell of alot of time. I would sell off all the livestock, cook the rock and start from square one. If I got $300 off the old light and fish/corals could do it though.
dtfleming
Wow this is a good deal on this fixture. Pretty much like my TEK. Remember you still need good bulbs for this. ATI blue special, ATI blue plus, UVL aquasun, UVL 75/25. are some good choices with PAR values over 300. Like the TEK ones your gonna need a fan to blow on the end to cool the bulbs to make them last longer and get the better PAR readings.

Damn, looks like I might be asking for something for Christmas:) Update: 70w MH Pendant for sale haha

The T5HO deal at hellolights is a very nice fixture for a very nice deal...

that... that's not really a good deal or a good fixture.
evilc66
I'd pay for a Fish Need It fixture long before that Aquatraders unit.
Mojorizn
Got it for $186.00 shipped.

Thanks for this post + discount code

SWEET......

This deal is coming along about a week too early.

You'd probably have to call them to find out, I wondered that too.
And no, I didn't get a hanging kit.
I have some ideas for some cool DIY legs or support platform, we'll see...

4 bulb suggestion for the peeps.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I was thinking of getting
ATI Blue Plus x2
KZ Fiji Purple (supposed to enhance reds and have good PAR)
Blue Special (ATI, I think, supposed to be 75/25 in color)
dtfleming
k figi doesnt have good par. the aquasun along with the blue plus is better

thanks alot 05xrunner for posting this! i got the 8 bulb fixture for $186! they raised the price $30 again since yesterday but they didn't charge me for the oversize shipping so still got the same price. im putting this on my planted tank so really didn't need 8 bulbs lol but for the price i'll just run 4 for now and have this for when i upgrade one day! thanks again!

Quick question, I am planning a 24x24x16 cube down the road. Think one of these fixtures hung will light the entire cub enough for some SPS higher up? If not I am going to go ahead and order a 2nd since they are 11" wide.

I would say it would work if you kept all the sps under lights, but you may be unhappy with the spread.

does it come with any type of leg system? I didnt think it did but all I saw was an option for a hanging kit. so I thought maybe it has legs. if not I will make something up

question is..do those PFO system come with the MH ballast

nope, no legs.. i'll try to figure something out, i'll have to put my glass hood back on for a while. it already has the hanging kit installed too.. and i didn't select the hanging kit option.. weird.
05XRunner
hmmm after the choice to add bulbs there was a hanging kit add on for 19.99
maybe they are adding them to all the orders since this light is discontinued and want to get rid of stock..that would be cool

OOH i wonder if they sent you the kit by mistake or maybe they all come with one. Have any pics?
Crackerballer
Any more thoughts on my situation? Trying to figure out if I need to order another one before they get gone.
05XRunner
well the fixture is 11" wide but I dont know that might make the sides dark unless its kinda high but then it might be to high. I think for something like that your gonna need a MH with a reflector like this
http://www.hellolights.com/index.asp?PageA...amp;ProdID=1676
or this for a DE bulb

even if they are not the best..you could replace them with tek reflectors or anoter and still be ALOT cheaper. I wouldnt imagine they are bad though...I wont have mine till Tues

Can yall share ur ideas for legs?

I am NOT T5 expert, but I think if it were me and I had the $$, I'd order another one.

I'd love to see a pic of the fixture too,
121a
strongly considering getting it, i would tear it apart though and take out a t-5 set for my new fixture. i wish it was 18" wide though, it would be perfect. Kinda silly not to pick up one since the retro kits cost $95 with no bulbs and $135 at RG. are the reflectors clip ons? or are they screwed down?

You read my mind...i bought the fixture to eventually do a T5/MH combo...100 bucks vs the cost of a 2 or 4 bulb retro was a no brainer for me. smile.gif

Someone that has one, please post pics! biggrin.gif
At this price, Im considering the 8x54w just in case I ever upgrade!

parents came over last night and I didn't get a chance to snap pics.. I'll try to do so tonight after I get home from the theatre..
rainydave
I'm really tempted to pick up a 24" to go over my BC29. I'm guessing that hanging it would be the best option for it's location.

I am hesitating due to only it only having 1 power cord. I like being able to simulate sunrise and sunset with two timers on my stock lighting.
xtra0t
after a couple weeks, I'm going to take mine apart and wire another power cord into the second ballast so I can do the dusk/dawn thing..

I had 130w PC on my 20H before and now have this 96w t5HO on it and there's clearly a difference. Within 1/2 hour my green slimer was showing polyp extension and even the clowns "popped" more. I'm anxious to see it when I get home from work tonight after everything has had a full day with the new lighting.

rainydave
Well dang...it's up to $119 now.
