that's funny about AZFrag, they live in the ghetto whoever it is with the GSP.. mesa drive & main st, my wife is afraid to go over there.. i told her i'd bring teh he4t! lol..

you totally hit the nail on the head with the poor mid twenties comment, nice. i'm scrounging left and right to build up the tank, and all the while i'm trying to scrounge to get myself a pico while i'm here at work.. why couldn't my parents have been rich? *sigh*

kraylen - thanks alot bro, can you pm me your ph# and address and if i can i'll stop by tonight or tomorrow..
Todesengel
I got it setup and in the house. Bought 50lbs of sand. The LFS only had 1 bag left of sand, won't get anymore till about Christmas. I plan on another 50lbs.

5 Slow Gallons about every hour from the RO/DI unit...

This is a HORRIBLE picture of the sump, but I don't think I am going to use this one. The top where the drain goes to pours into a tray with holes in it, and then through some eggcrate and then it slopes down to the right. I don't think I can fit any equipment in here other than the return pump and skimmer. I have a 10gallon just sitting here I might build one.

Kraylen
I also have a 20H if you're interested in that...
Rocket
Don't add any more rock!!! Its perfect right how it is. smile.gif

I just had to say it...

Sump looks a bit small. Looking good though. Nice to see it inside.
Todesengel
Hahaha, that was a piece of live rock that I had sitting out for about 2 months.. Its prob base rock now... lol

But I don't plan on adding a lot of live rock, just maybe 50lbs or so on the left side. I want to leave the big blue right side wide open with maybe some clams in the sand bed or some coral that lays on the sand bed.

Almost there!! I just added another 30lbs of sugar fine sand. Iphone isn't the best for macro's... lol

Todesengel
Tank is full!!! Return pump and overflow are working, and now I just wait for the cloud of sugar grain sand to fade!
Kraylen

I must see it this weekend!!!!
UncleLuke
Looking good T!

I know I'm going back to the first page, but did you try hitting that bowfront from the inside? It probably would have busted alot easier, lol. Sweet tank though...i'm still trying to get my little 7 off the ground.
Todesengel
Hey Kraylen, I will arrive at your place around 6pm or so. I gotta head to scottsdale at 4 to get the dog, then traffic, and I gotta stop by my work to show some people that want to see the puppy. Send me a msg on my phone around 530ish

I think you have to hit something like that with a sharp object in order to break it...ever seen those little hammers that you carry in your car to escape? They are extremely sharp tipped!

here is my bowfront with the 48" NEP you don't even notice the brace.
adolfo425
Nice tank. Its even nicer in person. He's got some really comfortable chairs you can chilax in. What happen to your tank that you needed a brace. In regards to Nessbuilders tank.

About the water being cloudy: I have Oolitic sand in my 42 hex. It was cloudy for 4 days and then I finally gave up. I started up my sump and rigged 100, 50, and finally 3 micron filter socks to clear the water. I'll Never use Oolitic sand again. It blows everywhere with a lot of flow and it simply does not clear from the water column.

Nope!! Not yet! But here are some pics to hold you over until then! The dust is so chalky it sticks to the side of the glass. And when the skimmer pulls it out, its like chalky paste and very hard to clean off the skimmer plastic. I got 2 of them running overtime on this tank!

Hmmm, as far as lighting goes...

I found one of these a year and a half old on craigslist for $400, i think I can talk him down to $300.
http://www.marineandreef.com/Aquali..._p/res53506.htm

Or I already have a 150w 20" Sunpod.. I could buy another one and use them as pendants... One on craigslist right now with new bulb for $150...

Or I could buy a new nova extreme pro for $350 shipped...
Rocket
As a MH fan Don't get the NEP. Done 1 down 2 to go.

lol

I'd stay away from coralife. Most of their products lately have not been getting good reviews.
Todesengel
I think I might save up a couple more months and get a 48" 2x 250 Sunpod... Its only 8" wide so I could still use my canopy if I get some serious ventilation! Which I really really really want to use my canopy lol, but its the cheap plastic oceanic canopys. I wonder if it could stand up to the heat of 2x250... I also don't want to have to force myself to get a chiller.
Kraylen
2 x 250mh FTWWWW

Almost there! I put a couple pieces of live rock in, an a cup of sand out of my current aquarium to get some life in there. Salinity and temp are good, water is almost clear. I don't think its gonna clear up much more without some carbon or chemipure. The skimmer is pulling out some nasty stuff! It's almost black!! There was some serious dust in that sand, and I even rinsed it out a little bit!! I threw an old 100w PC on top just for the hell of it. Prob won't be until after new years when I can afford my light, so there won't be anything in here for a couple weeks!

Rocket
So the tank is on cruise control till 2009???

Looks good. Actually surprised it began to clear up. I never turned my skimmer on when I was adding the sand. I'll do that next time. Seemed to work for you. I don't think I will even bother rinsing 120 pounds of sand....
Todesengel
I threw my 20" 150w Sunpod on top, and I think 2x150 might be a little low on the lighting side.... But I am not sold on spending the extra cash on a 2x250 just yet...

Dooly
nice, I like bowfronts happy.gif

I would say 2 x 250 is overkill for your tank, I don't see why you are not considering a retrofit T5 setup? use some nice reflectors and cut down on heat and power.. the only downside is if you wanted to keep SPS on the bottom, a 72 bow is pretty deep from what I remember..

2 x 150 with supplemental T5's would be awesome too.. I would also remove the glass covers, but that's just me, good luck!
annamarie421
Glad to see it's starting to clear up! In the pictures I don't think it looks bad at all with the 150w Sunpod - it's a lot brighter than I expected! Looking good! smile.gif
flamethis
Why not do retro and use 2x175 Moguls? I used that on 46 bow I know a foot shorter but it was damn bright...
Todesengel
48" 2x150 sunpod is on its way!!! I got it for $200!!!

Well the problem is, the canopy doesent really have a hinge or anything, so any retro stuff would have to come off and be unplugged from the hood every time for feeding. And the fact that the bow front is roughly 18" wide in the bow, and only 13" wide on the sides. Most 48" lights are 14-15" wide, so they won't fit under the canopy.
Todesengel
Much more clear today!! The dust is still clinging on to any plastic pieces though, look at the locline and the overflow.

fewskillz
Awesome deal on the light. Congrats.

Glad your cloudy problem cleared up.
