Yup.
Weetabix7
Well you should always try to talk them down in price a little, never hurts to try.
What kind of shape is the stand in?
Quality stand, or particle board?
ap123
I first saw this on the site for $550, about a month and a half ago. He says the tank and stand are new, bought them, brought them home, realized it was bigger than he had room for. I don't think it's a great stand, but honestly, I think it's an improvement over what I've got.

Yup.

Tank new cost me $225 IIRC

Overflow kit is like $65-$85

So, while not a great deal-if the stand is nice and if its all in good shape not terrible either. tongue.gif

So helpful ain't I?

I just keep remembering one I missed out on that sounds similar- RR tank with a common pine stand for $200
Looked decent too. I realize there are other factor also- location etc. So I hope some of this is helpful sleep.gif

ap123
LOL, nope, not hugely helpful. laugh.gif Except to let me know current prices on a 75g new. tongue.gif

The location is half of what caught my eye; not around the corner, but pretty convenient.

Someone else has a 72bow for sale, more included, but it's in Staten Island, and I don't like the look of the stand. Silly? Maybe. But it's my living room. wink.gif

sad.gif Sowwy....

Not silly at all. That is why I built my own. happy.gif

I looked at a 72 locally also ( as you may recall ). I am very happy with this 75 and the bow, while super sexy IMO, really does limit the 'scape IME.

I figured the least I could do was let you know what I paid. happy.gif
ap123
I do remember you looking at the bow. smile.gif While I'm open to either one, I actually prefer the simpler shape of the 75.

Mostly, I think I'm just dreaming at this point. But hey, I was beginning to think I'd never get an anemone, so yanevah know. biggrin.gif

Mama's gonna be in trouble

but how could I resist? I just impulse bought a 48" 6 bulb T5 CAD fixture for $45. Not individual reflectors, no moonlights, no fan, but $45!!!!!!!!

I know, it's too big for my tank. But now or later, I'll upgrade to a 75g. laugh.gif

Yanno I'm more tempted than ever now. ohmy.gif

I'm just nervous about the "some plumbing" thing. Well, that and the $. I'm not very knowledgable about the mechanics of the tanks, and don't really have time, space, or cash for trial and error in that dept.

Just take the plunge, and let the NR folks help fill in the gap with suggestions. tongue.gif

Can't wait to see what happens with this idea. You've got the lighting now, so the tank is sure to soon follow. wink.gif
ap123
Tee hee, thanks. I already PMed the guy (along with two others who have 72 bowfronts for sale). Hopefully one of these will work out. fingersx01.gif

I'm hoping to get one myself sometime down the line, if I can ever get the 30g going and stable.

I'm a dork, I forgot to mention that I have a Quiet One 2000, 2100, something like that, that I could let have cheap for a return pump if you needed it.
I got it planning on plumbing my 30g into another tank, but it doesn't look like I'll be doing that now.
I also have some plumbing that I purchased but didn't use, for the same reason.

Weetie, you are great! Right now I'm just waiting to see if any of these will come through--and be in good shape. First guy is out of town until Wed, second has a couple of people interested ahead of me, and the third hasn't responded. We'll see...

ap123
What to do, what to do?

After seeing that 75 for sale, three others (mix of 75s and 72 bows) were posted. One didn't want to lower his/her price, but it was just out of my budget, even though it had everything needed. One is in NJ, looks to be good shape, but an overflow; and I really prefer drilled this time, the last I was too slow.

So; the original 75 I saw is still available, and I want it. The problem is I know no matter how frugally I go about this, the money to get it running will add up. I don't have room to just buy it and leave it sitting here until I'm more solvent (ha ha). Do I just bite the bullet and do it, knowing the odds are an unexpected bill will come up soon enough, leaving me kicking myself for spending the $? Or do I do the responsible thing, be patient and have faith that another one will come up when timing is better?

This 75 is a good deal, but not the best ever. Maybe, knowing that this will most likely be the last tank I buy, I should wait for that elusive perfect one.

unsure.gif
Needreefunds
Keep saving those pennies Anne. That perfect tank will come along at the right time.

a 72-75 is tough to trip over while dealing with daily life and trying to scrape together that unexpected couple hundy we always seem to need for one thing or another.

Tough because of the bulk, and even worse, our dreams of that much desired upgrade and real estate! laugh.gif

Hang in there. I was just there. It does stink, no doubt. For now enjoy planning what you would like and we will keep our eyes out for that tank. wink.gif

With a little reefers patience it will happen soon enough. flower.gif

JMO of course. tongue.gif

Oh yeah,
Happy New Year!

ap123
Oh Richie grouphug.gif

Thank you! I know that's the right answer, but it helps to be validated by another "reefer." smile.gif I knew it when I posted, but felt it when I went to the grocery store a while ago. Years ago, I used to make beef tenderloin for New Years dinner. Today, I bought a pot roast. huh.gif tongue.gif Kinda makes the point, though, no?

Happy New Year to you, sir! biggrin.gif
Militant Jurist
Yup, Richie is right. If you're going for the last big one, you might as well do it when you can do it right. No sense doing it, only to be anxious about whether you can afford it. Keep building that reef piggy bank! happy.gif

Oh yeah, and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year !! I would wait on the 75 till lateron . If you can start picking up peices for t here and there. It took me since oct 08 till sept 09 to get my 75 up and going so just take your time.
ap123
Thanks, Maria happy.gif All the best to you and yours flower.gif

Thanks Kim! You're right, and it's helpful to me to see that you did it (beautifully) the way I need to. In the meantime, I do have a beautiful, functioning tank; so I'll just take my time to take the next step.

Happy New Year! grouphug.gif

New Years Resolution for Anne - UPGRADE!!!!!!!!!

smile.gif
wimby
Hello Anne Did you do your upgrade?
ap123
Hi everyone ninja.gif

Where to start? Had a tank/life crash. Yup, guess that sums it up. wink.gif

Instead of an upgrade, I'm practically back to square one. sad.gif Most of my corals died, the rbta disappeared, etc. I was so sad every time I looked into the tank. I was negotiating the sale of my set up about two weeks ago when I just couldn't do it. It probably would be the mature, responsible thing to do, but...

So I'm going to try and slowly bring it back.

~Anne
wimby
Hey stranger sorry for your troubles. Glad to see you back :0) If you need any help let me know I have some frags of stuff I need to get rid of.
ap123
Hi Kim, thanks! biggrin.gif

Are you planning on going to the swap next weekend?

I might, depending on life this week.

Going to check out your tank thread now. smile.gif
wimby
Yes I'm going I will be there till like noon getting some awesome stuff already. Chalices and acans and blasto's so far . Very excited can't wait wish it was today :0)
ap123
Cool! Sounds like it's going to be an exciting day for you without a doubt. If I can go it will be in the morning.

wimby
Excellent maybe I will see you there
Weetabix7
I've missed you Anne!!!
Wondered how you were doing many times.
I'm with you on the Tank/Life Crash thing.
I'm actually in the process of taking my 30g tank down.
I've sold off most of the stuff, have just a few things left.
I have a 4g Pico I'm keeping up and I'll set up the Macroalgaes and 1 fish that I'm keeping in a 10g.
Come hang out with the gang in Weetie's Lounge, we've missed you and I know they'd all love to hear that you're still alive.
Very glad to see you back, sorry for your difficulties. grouphug.gif flower.gif
ap123
Awww, thanks Lisa! I've missed you too grouphug.gif and kicked myself for not getting your email so we could be in touch when I just couldn't handle the forums. sad.gif

I'm alive; a little ragged, and a lot grayer, but alive tongue.gif

I'm sorry to hear you're taking down the 30g, but I get it--and I know the pico will remain awesome cool.gif

@Kim--I'm thinking positive thoughts! biggrin.gif

Great to hear from you Anne.

The others have said it all here already, we missed you.
We understand.
We love having you back.

We also look forward to you enjoying the hobby again.

Hope life eases a bit soon. grouphug.gif

The frag swap would be a great place to pick up some deals if you can make it there.

Good luck with the restart Anne!

Still have the little 5.5 contest tank, my Red Sea Max 34 and my almost year old 75. happy.gif

I was looking for new info on your 75...why you holding out on me? tongue.gif
ap123
Interestingly enough, this old thread at the top of the SPS forum is pretty much exactly what it looked like as my SPS died. sad.gif
ap123
I got a new Koralia today. They were on sale at Foster Smith. Suggestions on placement?
This is in addition to the two already in there, and assuming I don't break either of those two when I clean them (they desperately need cleaning, lots of coraline buildup).
Weetabix7
To clean them, just soak them in somewhat hot water with a lot of white vinegar added.
All junk will dissolve right off.
ap123
Thanks, Weetie! I knew white vinegar, but couldn't remember how much.

I'll have to buy it. I've got balsamic, sherry, red wine, rice wine, apple cider, and chardonnay...but no plain white. laugh.gif

New skimmer just came too! It's xmas for Mama! omgomgomg.gif
