I just dropped the first frags into my frag tank about an hour ago. I put a green birdsnest, purple monti, peach milli, and a couple of Tubbs blue polyps in it. I'm to lazy to test, but if the tank isn't ready for corals I guess I will know soon enough!!

Geez, you've got more patience than I do. I put corals in the day after ammonia dropped to 0.

Atleast you've tested something, that's more than I can honestly say.

I'm a horrible reefer. Not only have I not tested, my acclimation procedure for the frags was: grab from tank A, and set in tank B, done. Fwiw, the green birdsnest had great PE about 5 minutes after being placed in the frag tank. I wonder what the frags will look like tomorrow????

The only thing I tested for was ammonia.
And I do the same, no acclimation from one tank to the other... but you are dealing with sps and I just have some cheap softies. I'm sure the frags will be fine, you'll see!

I'm not worried about it, there's plenty more where these frags came from (except for the Tubbs). I just traded in around 9 or 10 of the same frags to my LFS last week for some store credit. They're getting a shipment from ORA in the morning. I think I'm going to be getting the new "birds of paradise" birdsnest, and maybe another red planet or something like that for the frag tank.

Meh, slacker.

Some of the frags are seeing algae growth so I'm going to do a series of water changes soon. Also pulled out a big chunk of the green bay packer zoas that I will break up into smaller frags to sell.

Just glanced at the tank and there is the cutest little isopod frolicking in the corner of the tank... bouncing around like a huge flea.

You have to give the red skirts a cool name...if you only knew how many folks have asked me for frags of these lovleys haha I call them Lanis kick arse zoas lol

Lalani, any reason why you have substrate & lr rubble below the eggcrates besides for aesthetic reasons? Wouldn't it be easier to maintain good water parameters with BB?

Well, if I was propping SPS, I would go BB... but since I'm only doing softies (and maybe LPS) and will probably keep a fish in the tank..... and because I'm cheap and like natural filtration I went with sand and rocks. The rubble will eventually be used up for frags, so it's not going to be in there forever. The larger rocks will stay though, to provide bio-filtration along side the sand, and also for buffering properties.
