did you make the light yourself?
Ando

I made the metal legs for it.
But the light is a 20K SE Radium, Reflector is a Lumen max Elite, and Ballast is a 250 watt galaxy

NEED HELP GUYS!!!
Alright so the red turd algae is getting out of hand so I'm going to rip off all of my coral off the rocks and then clean all of the rocks... Luckly most of the coral came off real nice and is sitting on the sand bed right now. So now I need to figure out how to clean this rock. This is how I'm thinking of going about cleaning the rock.. Correct me if I should do something different.
1:soak all of the the live rock with 50/50 Bleach and water for 2 days.
2:rinse with water and let sit in a bucket full of fresh water for 2 days.
3:Add 2lb box of baking soda per 15 gallons of fresh water.
4:Rinse off with fresh water again and let soak for 1 day.
5:dry out in the sun for 3-4 days.
After all the fun stuff I think I will need to let the rock cycle again since I do not want to re- cycle my tank with corals in it. So I'm going to put the live rock in a bucket with salt and pure water and let sit for about a month with a power head running.
Should this work out guys????
I know it's a lot of work but my tank is getting out of hand with the nasty alage and I want to start with fresh clean live rock.
Ando
Mar 9 2010, 06:42 PM
Well right now I took all of the rock out of my tank... All the coral is laying on the sand bed.
I used muratic acid to clean the rock very good. I'm also going to get new sand for the bottom.
Should I take out my old sand or just cover it with the new sand? The old sand it pretty nasty looking.

I would seriously consider replacing your sand. Or give it a big rinse. When my BC29 was torn down the amount of #### in my sand was disturbing. IF I did another nano I would change the sand every year. I tried vacuuming but it is so hard to do with a small tank.

My tank is under construction!! All the rock is out of the tank right now due too large amount of red turf algae.. I'm going to replace the sand not sure if I'm going to do white or black yet? Also I'm thinking of a very clean rock scape with minimal rock work. Also I have new RO/DI filters coming tomorrow! My tank is in need of 100% pure water! A big water change is def on call for!
Anyone know of any tank that have a nice minimal, clean, rock aquascape?
Links would be great
Ando
Mar 18 2010, 01:50 PM
Having brand new RO/DI filters is very nice... Feels like I have some weight of my shoulders now. I'm going to do a 5 gallon water change today and do another 5 gallon water change maybe tomorrow or this weekend, just so I can get my tank water nice and pure as it can be. I have been slacking on the water changes for about 4 months now and it shows in my tank. But it's time to get back to them!

QUOTE (Ando @ Apr 12 2009, 08:21 PM)

I can't really tell - did you use the "official" hanging kit (not the arms, but the wires) to hang the light from your hook? Or did you do something else?
Also where did you connect the brackets? It looks like you connected one of the arm brackets to the top of your tank? Is this right? If so, how does it support the weight of the heavy light?
Ando
Mar 19 2010, 07:32 PM
The wires I bought from home depot. It's just thin steel cables and you will need to get some crimps. i ran the steel cables thru my light and thats how they hang.
The arms for the light are held with brackets behind my stand.
I can get you some better pictures of this.. if u want?

I read through the entire thread...Good job!
Quick Question, why did you get rid of the T5 Lighting and choose MH instead?
Also do you have much evaporation with the MHs? Did you setup an overflow for the evaporation?
