Hey man, im new to the forums and your tank looks great. I read through the whole thing. I have a 14G BC on its way and am trying to soak in as much info as i can. I also couldnt help but notice you and another guy that was posting are from the sarasota-bradenton area. I live 5 mins away from coral connection and have been going to them for years when i had my 55gal a year or two back. They are really great! Love their corals and always negotiable with their prices. Im planning on going to them for all my upgrades on the tank. Im slacking on my water changes this week. I shoul have done it monday.... Its now Saturday... Tomorrow I shall do one!

Do a quick search on the jbj arctica. I can't remember, but one or a few of the smaller chillers commonly for sale are unreliable.

You can shorten it to lak if you want. It's the name of an island chain.

The skimmer is nice, but I haven't been using it for a few weeks. I'm thinking of getting a sump since my lights completely cover the tank. I think another reason is my tank was always skimmerless, so even with SPS, I want to skim as little as possible.

Ya i took the skimmer out of my tank bc it was to jammed into the middle chamber I didnt like it. So Im doing skimerless.

Hey ando, where did you get those aluminum bars from? and all the other stuff for the hanging kit? did you have to bend them yourself? i want to make one of those diy hanging kits when i get a NEP. thanks

Ya im not sure when im going there lol. I was supposed to pick them up about a month ago.... im slacking!

Well I though I was going to have to buy a chiller bc my temps were rising to about 84 in the day.. But I went to wall mart and found a 6 doller fan and it keeps my temps to about 80 now... Wow im happy I didnt have to buy a chiller!

Well I won't be getting the elegance coral I was going to get. I was supposed to pick it up soon and called the guy and he said one of his fish ate it and it died! O well.

Ando got a Maxima Clam today too.

Your tank looks great. Too bad you didnt get the elegance. The Yuma looks awesome though. Please post pics of your maxima!!

As for the new maxima.. It died the second day I had it I came home from work to check out my clam.. And there was nothing left to it but the shell. Not sure what caused this? Could be fire worms... But I havnt seen any in my tank.

What camera do you use?

Olympus Stylus tough 8000. Its a water proof point and shoot. It takes such good macro shots. Especially when you put your hand in the tank. It takes video too.

So anyone have any idea why my clam might have died? I have herd fire worms, and maybe stress?

My water quality is very stable and good. The clam was at the lfs for about 3 days and then I bought it and moved it 2 or 3 times in my tank. Do you think from him moving so much he/she could have died from the stress of moving so much.

How big was the clam?

2 inches maybe what was the issue. I think small clams are harder to keep, and they may need feeding (like phytoplankton) until they can survive on just light. But, it doesn't sound like starvation could happen in only 2 days.

Can the die from fire worms?

Possibly stress or something else. I bet the fire worms are quickly scavenging the corpse; they are often blamed for the clam's death since they're "at the crimescene". You may want to check wetwebmedia.com for some info (look for tridacnid clams).

I have been having the worst problem with my Nova Extreme Pro. I have had it for about 5 months now and I already replaced the actinic bulb 3 times.. I have to get another one because one just burned out on me. So that is 4 bulbs! I think it's the ballast?? Anyone know?

I called Current USA but no one picked up. I have also emailed them yesterday morning... Still no reply. I got my light fixture from aquabuys.com and I called them.. But now one picked up. I called 3 times too

I want to get the 250 watt MH from sun pod!
