Well you are welcome to read the whole situation with my tank, but it's a lotta reading.
If you want to see it, start reading on post #300, pg. 15 here:
http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...6653&st=280
I was having so many problems with that tank that I finally broke it down and moved everything into 2 10g tanks that were hooked together.
The latest problem I'm having with it is a really, really bad pest algae outbreak.
I don't have any posts about that on the tank thread, just some comments here and there.

The only tank thread I have that actually gets posted on now is here:
http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...654&st=4520
That thread covers a really wide range of topics, but I also discuss the little Pico tank I set up fairly recently, and it's doing pretty well.

You have so much time, effort, energy tied up in this build. I'm thinking of doing foam live rock wall also but with a 20 long. So are you saying its not a build worth being deticated to or are you boared with what you have it stocked with?

I thoroughly enjoy the way the tank looks. A couple things that I would definitely change had I done it all over.

I'm not bored with what I have stocked, I just want a new look and more space. Plus I like the building and planning of a new tank. I find it enjoyable. I would not tear this tank down unless I have to. I'm hoping it turns around for the better.

1) The false wall isn't a complete seal so water slowly equalizes between the two sections. I would fix this.

2) The flow was originally too low, for now it's fixed, but a koralia nano is poking out and visible. What I should have done in retrospect is instead of using koralias mounted in my wall is I should have just run some tubing and pumped water through the tubes.

3) I used too much rock, my 10g has less usable space than my 5.5g did.

4) My main large rock has a very vertical section on it, it will be hard for corals to get light on such a vertical surface.

5) Right now, the rocks go all the way up the false wall. While this looks good, when algea starts growing there, it is a pita to get off (battling this now). If I did things again, I have the rocks end right below the teeth for the overflow on the false wall. They would go all the way up in the back though.

Something I will change when I can.

When I move I'm going to try and get the LEDs to be hanging. I don't like the fixture I have on top of the tank. It's too big and bulky and gets in the way.

Some terrible cell phone pics.

current fts, not much changed. but you can see the remaining koralia now sad.gif

the gracilaria that just won't die....

Just as an aside. The bubble coral is now big enough to fill my entire 10g tank....

This tank is being torn down. I just couldn't figure out why everything was dying and the gracilaria was growing out of control, regardless of water changes and scrubbing. I've rescued the sexies and bumblebee shrimp, but it seems that the pistol is no more sad.gif.

I also have a new theory as to why the tank was having problems. I removed the light fixture to tear down the tank and the entire back of the light fixture was saturated with water. It's mdf so no doubt it was the problem all along. Oh well. sad.gif

I'm sorry. sad.gif
I hope you set a nice, shiny new tank that works much better for you.
It worked for me! biggrin.gif
