Just found out that there will be a Dallas Coral Farmer's Market on November 1st! Thats about a 3 hour drive for me, but who cares, great deals, beautiful corals and empty wallets at the end of the day. Who's all going? Anyone setting up a booth?

Why don't they have a Corpus Coral Market. Is it too much to ask. Options suck here and I usually end up driving a few hours anyways. Dallas is just too damn far for me.
I'll be there for sure, just down the road from me.

From what I gather they are doing it in dallas/fort worth because its the juncture of several states and will get more exposure rather than if it was down here in the south.

Sucks for me. I wanted to head up that way for Ozzfest this year but heard it sold out quickly. I just don't see myself driving all the way up there to get frags when I can just get them online and use the money I would've spent on gas for shipping or get more corals and get free shipping on a large order. NE ways people up north have fun and post pics of the event.

Nope not yet, maybe I'll check out their site tonight and see whats up. Man, the DFW-CFM is going to be huge, Steve Tyree is going to be there, Auctions, Raffles, and me acting like a kid in a candy store.
Countdown starts!

I joined on the website but I actually haven't paid anything yet. Do I just wait till a meeting to pay? Is there people selling frags at meetings?

There's always someone selling something!
As for becoming a paid member you can join through the side bar and you have several options.....Try it out for awhile and see if you like it.

Then it sounds like I'm probably going to have to join! But seeing as I'm a huge procrastinator, it will have to wait till I get around to it lol...
But in other news, anything else up for dallas? I hear they have tons of nice strip clubs too!

I was just at the CFM in Portland, and scored some really nice stuff.
Plan on making a day of it. The REALLY nice stuff sells quickly at the beginning, so you want to be there for that. Then whatever is left at the end some vendors will mark down A LOT, so you want to be there for that too.
Have fun with it. I hope that there are as good of vendors in Texas as there were in Oregon!

Somebody buy me something and mail it to me. I have a freind up there who worked in a pet shop but will have no idea what I'm talking about if I told her to go and pick me up some of Steve Tyree's beautiful sunset montipora.

I'll see what I can score UBER cheap there, might have to hook ya up

If you are expecting Tyree stuff to be cheap, think again. His booth was very lightly stocked at the start, and it was VERY expensive, even at the end. He did not make deals to get rid of stuff. That was from the other vendors.
For example, one of the auctions was a Tyree Sunset monti, and it auctioned for over $80, and it was smaller than my thumbnail. Stores in this area have much larger pieces for much less $$$. I don't know why someone would buy a piece like that at auction. Go figure.
If AWExotics has a booth, he has some nice stuff, and he does mark stuff down at the end.
The booth that was best at the NW-CFM event was Totally Exotic Corals from Medford, Oregon. It was the booth that sold me the two Aussie Acan lords for $27 near the end of the show. It also is the booth that I helped to pack up all their extra corals, and they gave me two or three frags just for helping them. I sent them an email asking if they were planning on going to the Dallas event, but have not heard back from them yet. I will post here if they are planning on it.
There were also some other local retail shops that were present, but they did not do as well.
I hope that you get vendors like TEC at your event.

It makes it well worth it.

Sad news. The vendor that gave REALLY good deals at the NW-CFM will not be going to the one in Texas.
Totally Exotic Corals told me that they would not make it there this year. Maybe next year.
Still it is exciting, and there is a lot of great stuff. I hope that you have as good of a time as I had up here.

Yep almost a month away. I'm not sure if I'll still be going, I probably should though seeing as how bare my tank is from the crash. I just don't know if my funds will be in order or not.

I wouldn't mind going if it was in Houston or something but blowing enough gas money for a 10 hr round trip plus $25 a head for tickets doesn't seem like a logical idea.

That's what I'm saying. It's too f&%#$ng far for me. I used to hate traveling two hours up the road to san antonio but I love the seet deals I get when I am there. That's about as far as I am willing to go.

Because I can count all the "serious" reefers that live here on one hand. And that's including you and I. There's alot of sw guys around here, just not many into reefing.

Yeah seriously. My wife would want to go so there is $50 there, my truck gets 18mpg maybe so thats about........$150-170 in gas or so, plus food, drinks, stripper tips and so on and I would have to come home with a bucket full of free crap to make it worth while. That's just me though, you guys go have fun.

Makes sense. We never get the good stuff here. I mean the best thing that Bayfest could bring Corpus Chrisiti was a Sat night shooting and the Rock Of Love tour by Bret Micheals. Lame. Not to mention all the girls that were side stage looked barely post pubescent at best. Corpus sucks.
I'm going to sleep.

Hey! I'm in DFW!! Who's got the scoop on it? Is it a big vendor show? Where we can shop til we drop? Can we just show up and shop? Can someone give me the 411 on it?
I'm a member of DFWMAS but have never been to a frag swap.
Thanks!

I'm moving in November and don't want to buy anything right now. Who knows if my tank is going to survive the move!! But I really wanted to go and see what it was like. I've never been to a swap or show!
